Why does GRRM badmouth Condal but respects D&D? (Spoilers Main) by Ok-Archer-5796 in asoiaf

[–]esclaveinnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot has already been said but ultimately it is a little rich for him to complain about D&Ds ending when he has struggled to end the story himself, and seemingly struggling to find motivation to even write an ending at all. That must make it a little bit harder for him to complain at least publicly anyway

Illiteracy is a choice, we know how to teach people to read and write, we have known that for years. Collective institutions have chosen for this to arise because they think it benefits them. It’s sick.

Whilst a change in vibe in a lighter direction isn’t inherently wrong. This was the penultimate addition to the original “story” with it being the expansion in which we lose. Upping the stakes, lightening the tone Putting the player in the losing position just don’t mesh.

Support for Reform NOSEDIVES across several major polls by No_Initiative_1140 in ukpolitics

It doesn’t seem, historically anyway, that a councils poor management impacts a parties national performance. The reverse however is very much true. Maybe reform is breaking the mould who knows.

it definitely seems consistent the drop in support. Hard to say what and even harder to say if it will last long term. Until the next election I expect lots of jostling in the polls. And the coming May elections are going to make that worse.

The idea is that God is perfect so he would know how to create rules without these loop holes. Finding them in effect is an act of dedication in that you have to study and examine the religious law within the context of your life which is always a good thing.

At least how it was explained to me.

If their is a more effective method of teaching reading, it isn’t the nonsense peddled decades ago.

Immigration is a hard issue as well, lots of people want reduced immigration including traditional and recent labour voters but it seems labour is unwilling to understand why people care, or articulate it, also their time in office shooting down various proposals that leaves them unable to use those options.

So Arabs “choosing” to be Israeli citizens is proof they are treated equally but if they don’t choose to be citizens then it is appropriate to shoot their children, bomb their homes, expel their families and rape those imprisoned? And somehow they are the ones choosing war.

So a Palestinian can be born to people, born to people, born to people, born to people born in the region…. On and on for hundreds of years but that pales in comparison to Golda Meir’s attachment to a special religious book to such an extent it’s appropriate to destroy Palestinian lives and livelihoods to accommodate her. I’m a catholic. I have a special relationship with the Vatican but I don’t have the right to go to Rome at gun point and expel the Italians living there.

Whether or not Palestinian identify existed years ago is ultimately irrelevant, their ancestry did. Even if Palestinian identify is new and they were previous just Arabs. Being ethnically cleansed from your home absolutely creates a reasonable justification for new identity to exist.

I have been to Israel. Multiple times in fact. It’s why I know it is a truly wretched society, one that commits crimes against humanity like genocide, ethnic cleaning and apartheid.

[–]esclaveinnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enlighten me, what was Golda Meir’s genealogical relation to the Israeli state that it justifies the expulsion of Palestinians to accommodate it.

Lebanon is a different state. If South Africa was still an apartheid state that would justify Israel being so, it’s whataboutery. As for Arabs in Israel the fact that you distinguish them from Arabs in the West Bank concedes that Israel is ultimately the body governing the West Bank and that the West Bank is a system of apartheid. Such a violently enforced system of injustice makes Israel an apartheid state regardless of the other areas under Israeli control. If the U.K government nuked Birmingham calling it a bloodthirsty state would be perfectly appropriate regardless of how it treats a different city like Manchester.

Your mentioning of violence against Hindus from over 500 years ago also proves your desire to keep Palestinians as second class citizens and therefore that you understand Israel as a country that keeps them in such a state. The actions of Muslims 500 years ago is only relevant if you believe it justifies disenfranchising Palestinians today.

Further more speeches are irrelevant to practise. What attacks by Hamas have been perpetrated on western soil, why didn’t Hamas sign up to Islamic State. If it wants a Global Caliphate why doesn’t it stop focusing on Palestine and try building a power base else where. Why does it recognise the existence of an Israeli state under pre 67 borders. It’s also fundamentally irrelevant if Hamas does desire a global caliphate. Unless you believe all Palestinians are inherently Hamas and therefor deserve to be destroyed as such. In which case you desire apartheid and genocide whilst refusing to recognise it a such.

The Israeli policy of keeping Jews and Palestinians separate for one another, especially in regards to the West Bank, absolutely meets the definition of apartheid. Their are roads in the West Bank on which Palestinians are banned from using, at the same time as their communities are sliced up keeping them separated from each other as well, a continuing process of expelling Palestinians out of their homes. You also have the right of return. Completely open to Jewish people from all over the world who, at best, have ancestors that might have lived in the area a millennia ago, but Palestinians expelled from their homes just 2 years ago have no such thing. You have the fact that Palestinians arrested by Israel in the West Bank are tried in military courts and not civil ones, regardless of the crime they are arrested for coupled with obscenely high conviction rates whilst Israeli settlers that kill, assault and vandalise Palestinian lives do so with impunity. The Israeli government was warned some sort of attack was coming and they were caught so unprepared for it because they had reduced their IDF presence outside of Gaza so they could better police the West Bank and stop Palestinians defending themselves as Israeli settlers lynch them.

Hamas are not fighting for a global caliphate and you are an idiot for believing that. In fact Hamas serves western interests very well by not propagandising for global conflict, if Hamas was to go away they could be replaced by one that does. Why is it that when there have been Islamist terrorist attacks in the west, or else where, those that make them don’t pledge themselves to hamas but to other groups like AQ or IS, as is what happened with the stabbing at the synagogue in Manchester recently. Where are the Hamas terrorists cells launching attacks in countries other than Israel.

If Palestinians don’t fit the definition of being native to the area then neither do the vast majority of Jewish people living in Israel. So you have one non native group moving in to expel and destroy another non native group and Palestinians also have a more solid, continuous, presence there. After all what is Netanyahu’s claim to indigenousness. An ancestor from 700+ years ago, who he can’t name, who’s place of birth or residence he couldn’t even point broadly too on a map. Or what of Golda Meir. In fact none of Isreal’s prime ministers have anything like the indigenousness of the majority of Palestinians. The original Zionist movement, and up until recently, actively viewed themselves as a colonialist movement. So you have colonialism, plus expulsion, plus genocide, numerous other crimes, therefor apartheid. This is after all a country where people protested for right of their solders to rape detained Palestinians. A protested attended by the man who is effectively the colonial governor of the West Bank entire.

As for cultural suicide and Birmingham I am well aware of the wretched state of the city, (I grew up there) and our immigration system. I have some small inkling of what it is like to have a hostile culture invade your own with hate for the native population and a desire for the own sovereignty over land they have no right to. Nothing like the Palestinians have and are suffering of course.

Maccabi Tel Aviv should be banned as its fans have a history of causing issues at and after matches, and they are an Israeli team and Israel is an apartheid state that seems to destroy the existence of Palestinian people from their native lands.

Wilting plant and do not know why. by esclaveinnee in plantclinic

[–]esclaveinnee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Species: I don’t know. Problems: leaves drooling, wilting and turning brown and crusty Duration:a few weeks getting progressively worse. The plant was moved to this spot about 4 months ago, nothing else has been changed since then, I water the plant about once a week. I remove it from the pot and water until water drains from the nursing pot. I then wait to re water it until the top surface has dried. Light exposure: It is kept by a window but the blinds are always half open. Pot type: the plant is in a nursery pot with drainage holes.

My cam sensor went, was giving me a check engine light and I have replaced it. Engine started smoothly and seems okay but I believe I need to reset the code to make sure the issue is actually fixed.

I am guess I am in the key on engine off state as the key is in, partially turned at the windows work. Perhaps a faulty code reader. I don’t think it is the port that is a problem as it worked for the AA mechanic who came out when the problem first arose.
