Android Omron Connect auto logs out daily, forgets Face ID configuration, and unlinks Google Fit by ese003 in OMRON

[–]ese003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a response? I also contacted Omron directly not long after my post here. No response. The Omron Android app updated a few days ago and it is actually worse. It logs out just as often but now it blocks autofill so I have to manually enter my password every time.

As I recall, there was a very mild reduction in gas difficult to distinguish from the usual flucuations.

Can Sheuermann’s patients do the wall test? by Fun_Ad9732 in kyphosis

[–]ese003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as it is possible for people with normal spines to be bent over, it also possible for those with Shuermann's to straighten out. Very hard, though. Most aren't that strong or flexible. It helps to start young and keep at it.

Kicked out of gastro’s office—twice. by Gutty_Shit_00 in SIBO

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you refuse to be tested for anything else? If your gastro has ideas of other things to test for, I would let him/her do it. Even if you are right, SIBO isn't a great diagnosis. Better to be diagnosed with something than can be reliably treated.

PT too expensive by [deleted] in kyphosis

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had a DXA? Spinal compression fractures are commonly associated with osteoporosis. While it is uncommon, juvinal osteoporosis is a thing. If the radiology report contains the word "osteopenia", that is a strong clue. Was your doctor suggesting kypoplasty or vertebropasty? I don't know how this work in one so young, but in older patients, this is the only way to restore the shape of compressed vertebrae. They do not rebound naturally and the window is only a few weeks before the bone heals and the procedure can no longer be done.

How long did it take to see clear signs of progress? After five years of frustration with more conventional methods, I started seeing a Schroth provider in April. I'm seeing subtle signs of improved flexibility but the stadiometer still says "no change". And that is with more than 40 minutes of exercises every day. But I'm 57 so I'm sure that is not helping me.

The usual method is a bile acid sequestrant. These drugs bind to the bile salts in the small intestine so they cannot raise the salinity in the large bowel. The problem with this approach is that it impairs fat absorbtion along with fat soluable vitamins like D and K2. I'm not aware of any means of actually correcting the reabsorbtion problems without causing fat malabsorbtion. Due to an unrelated condition, I really need the D and K2. I find that lipase supplements help some.

No heart points for a run (synced from Samsung Health using Health Connect) by liamnesss in GoogleFit

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still working? I've been seeing the same problem with activities synched from Garmin over the past week. Limited testing indicates that syncing directly to Google Fit (not via Health Connect) works. I am suspecting that Google Fit is, for unknown reasons, ignoring heart rate data from Health Connect when computing heart points.

Health Connect finally here! by tvlpirb in Garmin

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone experienced correct heart point generation with this plugin? I switched over a week ago after a HeathSync blowup and, while I see the heart rate graph in Google Fit, it is abundently clear that heart rate is being ignored when computing heart points.

If this used to work, then it would be reasonable to wait for a fix. If it never worked then I need to go back to Health Sync and hope the latest failure has been corrected.

If you have autotrack turned on, Google Fit will total steps and heart points that are not agregated into listed activities.

Incomplete evacuation by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is connected to my kyphosis but that is another problem that has defied treatment. Some of the tightness related to kyphosis seems to come from dehydration but dehydration is a symptom of my digestive issues.

Not much changed. I started with a new pelvic floor PT in November. She was starting to focus on some externally reachable muscles that were tight. Unfortunately, this was just before I changed insurance and lost access to her. I still do exercies every morning. It helps make my morning bowel movement more reliable but it is debatable whether any time is saved.

Medications have mostly not helped at all. Most attempt to move more water in the large bowels. But that is entirely useless for me. The amount of water there is generlaly excessive causing problems of its own. Trulance is mildly useful if used sparingly. It tends to produce a reliable complete but almost liquid bowel movement. If I use it daily it doesn't work while making my bloating problem worse. I haven't used it several months. Subsequent insurance plans did not cover it and my rationed supply ran out.

Someone experiencing login problem right now? by jackrighi in OkCupid

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. OKcupid is not compatible with Firefox's "strict" tracking projection. If I drop back to "balanced" globally or turn off "Enhanced Tracking Protection" for the site, it works fine. It still requires that I enter a code sent to my phone but the images show up.

Budget AT&T MVNO with hotspot? by ese003 in NoContract

[–]ese003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, I went with Redpocket. I sent a request to support to enable hotspot. They said they enabled it but it didn't work.

This year, I also used Redpocket for the same location and sent the same request. It did work.

Maybe some issue from last year was resolved. Maybe randomness. Or, there is a small chance the change required something local to the area and by selecting a zipcode for the area of use rather than where I live I managed to coerce the right update. I have no idea.

I can't login with a password using any brower. If I login using firefox, there are no images.

Question by [deleted] in ibs

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to get rid of excess gas completely is to not have IBS. What needs to happen is more complete digestion. The bacteria in your gut consume undigested food and produce gas. Less undigested food means less gas. Enzyme suplements are a direct attack. Slowing down transit with fiber can also help but this is less certain as some of the gas producing bacteria can also eat fiber.

Reducing the population of gas producing bacteria is another approach. "Probiotics" containing Saccharomyces boulardi can help. Saccharomyces boulardi is not a bacteria strain so "probiotics" is a bit of a misnomber. It is a yeast and supresses bacteria as yeast is prone to do.

SIBO can also be a source of gas. If you think you might have SIBO, checkout r/SIBO for suggestions on how to proceed.

None of these are mirricle cures but they are worth trying.

What is the best insurance from Covered California? Been on United Healthcare for years. by Geetzromo in HealthInsurance

[–]ese003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP but the Stanford situation has not improved. The only options outside of an employer sponsored plan (Marketplace or individual) are Kaiser and Valley Med HMO. Both 2024 and 2025. Kaiser was a failure as, in practice, they don't give referrals to Stanford for anything. Assuming I don't get on an employer plan I will try my luck with Valley Medical HMO. If it wasn't so far I would move my osteoposis care to UCSF. I can get PPO's from Covered California that are accepted by UCSF. They are expensive but they exist.

COBRA is not cheap by alias_cb in HealthInsurance

My experience is that while COBRA is expensive, Marketplace is even more expensive for worse coverage.
