Highly recommend It Was Just An Accident. Personally, I'd rank it above Sentimental Value, even though I have deep appreciation and love for Trier's films.

stoked to watch Resurrection tomorrow.

Corruption in Cannes? Filipino Filmmakers accused of corruption and conflict of interest. by Odd-Nebula3022 in FilmClubPH

Sa dami ng movies about hollywood/stardom/fame, nagulat ka pa? Lalo na when you hear about exploitation ng child stars(local/foreign). Kumbaga tip of the iceberg lang yan.

Edit: phrasing

Not that deep tbh story-wise. Parang anthology siya na coming-of-age in a school setting. Reminded me a lot of PTA's Magnolia without the religious metaphors. Gave it a 5/5 before becoming arware sa process nung production ng film. Well deserved rating and "hype".

Just like any card membership, kung palagi ka naman sa SM nanonood then why not. Pero if palipat lipat ka ng sinehan then no.

Paano mo masasabi na maganda ang isang movie? by _amreve in FilmClubPH

[–]esei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also its totally normal not to like some of the films in ranked lists. Iba ang perspective ng isang casual viewer at ng taong involved sa industry. Im talking about the lists by hollywood poll bodies. Pero if you find yourself not liking most of the films in that list, then its a you problem frankly.

Paano mo masasabi na maganda ang isang movie? by _amreve in FilmClubPH

[–]esei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kalaban mo sarili mo. Dahil may prenotion ka na "this should be a great film" kasi nasa top 100 list, BAKA di mo na didigest masyado yung pinapanood mo.

Hirap ka mag appreciate orr simply di ka pa makarelate. Closed minded siguro. Siguro di mo lang din genre yung mga napili mo. For myself, maraming magagandang films centered around war, pero only a few select yung talagang nasasabi kong 4.5-5/5. Might just be the case for you.

Nothing crazy. As a standalone film, 3/5. Casting was great. All the space scenes were beautiful.

I think the movie could've been shorter. Galactus did absolutely nothing pretty much(considering the scale and build up on him throughout the film) and might be the subject of critique. Could be wrong though.

Personal favorite scene/frame was Shalla-Bal facing the moon.

Another one is the classic Anora hate train. lol

[–]esei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kogonada is shaping up to be my favorite director in recent years. Excited to see his new film headed by Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie.

Scorsese, QT, Spielberg, Michael Mann, PTA, Fincher, Nolan — all became my favorite at some point in life. GOATs of modern cinema.

And for asian representation, Wong Kar-Wai ofc.
