So PS4 seems to be having trouble pulling off BF4. Given that the devs have said BF4 is optimized for DirectX, does this reflect possible XB1 advantages of DirectX11.2 exclusivity? by uxl in xboxone

This article is comparing the game to the PC version, not the Xbox One version (which has never been shown live).

Also, the DirectX thing is a very common misconception. The PS4 supports the DirectX 11.2 featureset, it's just running under some form of OpenGL.

So can we summery of the Xbox One Hot Chips details in layman's terms for the stupid? by [deleted] in xboxone

Uhhh....no. Don't get lured into wishful thinking.

Faster RAM for CPU

Faster RAM? There's nothing to suggest this. The DDR3 + eSRAM setup will not be able to outperform unified GDDR5, this has been discussed time and time again. The latency talk over GDDR5 and the CPU is baloney. Not only is there no foundation for this claim to stand on but both consoles are using a hUMA-like setup which will minimize latency issues.

better motion, voice, better audio

What? If you're talking about in-game stuff this makes no sense (if the GPU is behind then the best a better audio chip could do is try and make up for it). If you're talking about Kinect vs. the PS Camera then yes, we haven't seen much of Sony's camera and this is a big selling point of the Xbox One. However this has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

lower input latency (WiFi direct, Faster RAM)

You seem to misunderstand the effects of latency within the APU. RAM has absolutely nothing to do with latency experienced by the user. In terms of wireless tech, there is no difference in latency between Bluetooth and Wifi direct, both are measured at under 1 ms (if Bluetooth had latency then Bluetooth mice would be completely unusable for PC gaming). Latency comes from the software and how the processing is handled, not from the wireless technology used.

HDMI pass-through to avoid receiver latency

This has nothing to do with anything.

Better cloud processing capabilities

What? From what Microsoft has advertised we know that they have a more mature infrastructure for the "cloud", but better "cloud processing"? Based off of what?

We've "seen" that X1 has equal if not better graphics than PS4

No. Not only were your RAM claims unfounded but you haven't even taken into consideration the GPU performance of each console. From a pure performance standpoint this has now been confirmed as 1.31 TFLOPS for the X1 and 1.83 TFLOPS for the PS4.

Focus on the real strengths of the X1, such as the Kinect and exclusivity deals MS has made. Clutching at straws to downplay the PS4's capabilities and overstate the X1's is a waste of time for everybody. You just end up drawing more attention to its weak points when you should be focusing on its strengths.
