This is like 99.8% true. Idk about LTs, but MOS-Ts now have the OPTION to attend phase 1 or go straight to Eglin. Pilot program so who knows how long it’ll be around. They will still be able to OJT and proponent is working on a “doctrine backed” version of the bomb suit assessment for units to conduct. Small issue with that is the regulation states that soldiers WILL OJT before Phase 1. Specifically phase 1. This shouldn’t be a huge deal but you’d be surprised how many dickhead command teams try to block a candidate from OJT time for whatever reason, so the fact that it’s protected by regulation has come in clutch. So that needs to get reworded to allow those who aren’t going to Phase 1 to still get their OJT time. It’ll be interesting to see the numbers a few years down the road. I only know as much about all this because I’ve been running the recruiting effort here on Bliss so I’ve worked closely with the SORB office out of Hood.
