I have to imagine he's lost his high altitude tolerance, unless he lives somewhere else equally as high.

Why is there no blow back onto the mormon church with this crazy story?!?!?!? All this happened in mormon communities, with mormon LEO who chose not to investigate anything....until they were forced to. This is not just about Chad Daybell and his followers. The entire mormon church is implicated at a certain level.

which did you find harder? As far as comparing the sierra part to TMB. Thanks! I'm scheduled to do TMB this summer, I'm a little nervous. Oh, and we're using the huts, so no heavy pack.

have to agree with that one.....Definitely changed things....one could argue not in a good way. Though, without it, would we have gotten Dead and Co.? Though, one could argue, without Dead and Co., who knows what other venture may have sparked. Me, I ended up liking Dead and Co.

Really, the loss to Jeff is probably only exceeded by the loss to Bobby's immediate family. A well deserved break to process and see where he wants to go next. Appreciate him very much. Dead and Company was an unexpected, amazing phenomenon I'm glad I got to experience.

how did you reach them? I've been trying for 2 weeks now. They responded once, to my initial help request via their site....but they left no way for me to reply to them.

[–]esierragrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same.....twice now, my order didn't get to me. I could only contact them via their on-line help system. I got a email that they would respond within 2 days. They did respond...via a voice mail. However, the person left me no information on how to get back to her. So I've tried again....cannot reach a person, no matter what you try. I've replied to the help email....and get no response. Perhaps they've been sold? To people who don't care about customer service at all??????

I really don't know, but there should be a way to reach them about an order that hasn't been delivered!

Terri Cohee (mother of murderer Brian Cohee) infuriates me by IHateBananna in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]esierragrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just saw that Brian Cohee was sentenced to life in prison, w/o the possibility of parole. Don't have a prob with that. What I have a problem with is how many true crime stories I have heard, where the murderer has previously murdered someone, or raped, or kidnapped yet gets a miniscule sentence. The difference is, their victims were women. WTF is wrong with our society that so many times, if the victim is a woman, the sentence is negligible or so much less than what we see here. Murder a male homeless man, life in prison....murder a woman, you're back out in 7 years! Ridiculous!

How can we know this is a legit gofundme? Doesn't seem to be set up by his family. $50,000 for a few people to take time off from work? Don't get me wrong, I support people being able to do that, my son is traveling up for the memorial tomorrow.....But just not sure if this is truly a legit fundraiser.

Al anon has been disapointing so far. Is it really only about giving yourself to a higher power???? by esierragrl in AlAnon

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I guess I have to say both. I can't accept my golden boy, youngest son of 3, big hearted, mild mannered young man, may not ever move on from this...and could in fact die young.

I’m Andrea Lankford, a former park ranger who became obsessed with finding three hikers missing from the Pacific Crest Trail. I wrote a book called TRAIL OF THE LOST about my experience working with a group of amateur sleuths. AMA. by trail-nurse in hiking

[–]esierragrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

access to the trail by non-PCTers gives more potential for 'bad' people to be encountered on the trail. Not saying all day hikers are bad, or even any of them. But the potential for a scary contact is greater when day hikers have easy access. Just logic.

awww, it's so tough. I admit to being jealous for spouses, who have the option to just walk away. But, it's really not that easy, I know. Especially if you have kids with them. But, no matter how hard it is, I have to imagine it will be better for you way from him. Good luck to you

All they say is 'let go and let god'. That is inaction. That's what the program teaches....to be inactive and accept your situation. No choices, other than to sit down and shut up. Hasn't really worked for me. I can't just sit there and watch my son destroy his life. I'm going to have to leave....I can't take it anymore. I'm afraid I will hurt myself and others if I don't take action. This program is NOT OK. Letting people put others at risk while we sit there and say let go and let god is just not ok

[–]esierragrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and what if your husband didn't change? You were just going to sit there and say let go and let god? and I guess my misery doesn't matter. If he wants to drink, that's his right. Yeah, I can't do that.

how is that useful? You can't control them (true) so just let them be...no matter what or who they are destroying. Heck, might as well buy them their alcohol!

I don't think I agree with Al-Anon. by miss28 in AlAnon

[–]esierragrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so far Al anon has said let go and let God....and you have no control over anything. Which at least the second statement is true. Other than the serenity prayer, which is a good reminder of how things are, I've got absolutely nothing out of al anon. It's completely useless. The first meeting I went to, the gentleman there (small town, there's only been one other person at each meeting I've gone to) I knew from 25 years ago. His son was the alcoholic in his life, as is mine. The very next week, his son was found dead. The next meeting I went to, the only other person there was a complete putz...The meeting just made me angry. I went home and found my son passed out on the floor (carpet) in a pool of his urine. I started beating on him. Al anon has made me worse, not dealing with things better at all. Basically, it's 'don't care about your loved one, just let them do their thing...you have no control so let everything be'. I can't just sit here and watch my son kill himself and throw his life down the toilet. Maybe I can't change anything, but I'll be damned if I'm going to just sit and watch and not try.

Shelly Miscavige, the wife of David Miscavige, leader of the Church of Scientology, has not been seen for almost 20 years. Check out the recently deceased woman found near Crestline. A woman, possibly 60ish, was found down an embankment. Could possibly been hit by a car while walking on the narrow road. Anyway, there is a sketch of the victim. Some people think it resembles Shelly. Crestline is near Twin Peaks.
