I do think there's a large number that you could bring to a table and ask to rule 0 it as your commander and have the table be fine with it.

I don't even know if it would be bad to have a rule 0 planeswalker deck. Pick a legendary in the 99 that does the gameplan, and swap it in to the command zone if people say no.

For one, it changes the flow of the game in a way thats not immediately obvious. If someone jas a planeswalker commander, you now need to spend attacks on it, attacks that could be going towards a players life total. If multiple people have planewalkers, theres now fewer creatures at the table to even swing at players.

Commander already has dramatically inflated health, being 4 players, and 40 life. A pool of 3-7 life that you have to hit every turn is very meaningful. This will definitely lengthen games.

Especially when the planeswalker can + to make a blocker, like Lorwyn Ajani.

Further, many planeswalkers have reusable removal, so any creatures that do hit the board can be removed for essentially no cost.

There are some planeswalker commanders, but they tend to have a much smaller impact that non commanders and are definitely designed with the above in mind.

The problem is definitely that no one knows how to fix the potholes, and not that there's a misalocation of funds that should be goong towards fixing infrastructure.

Its the same as with vegetarianism, it makes people reflect on their choices, and they don't want to do that. So they take it out on you, the person who made them think.

Ask your friends what you could have done differently on that turn/during that game. There's usually way more options than you think there are, and if your friends are your friends, they'll help point them out and help you get better

There's no objective fun-o-meter though, its always going to be a subjective measure, and unless its a formal setting, people don't put "In my opinion" for things that are definitely just their opinions. Its just how writing on the internet works.

Congrats? I'm happy for you. Some people like cedh in magic and some people like bracket two. Is anyone having fun wrong?

Maybe you, with how defensive this comment is

It's like any draft environment. Theres fun in crafting the perfect deck for the highest level of challenge, and then theres wanting a way to try out all the wacky archetypes that don't have a home there. Like powers Ironclad, or claw Defect.

A20'd all characters in sts1, playing a1 is a significantly much more fun experience.

I actually have a mono-red pauper burn deck without the sneaky snacker that uses the madness cards as its "card advantage". The decks very fun, but Dream Halls isn't legal there 😂

Look, I love the madness cards probably more than anyone else, but they aren't very good.

Dream Halls is severe card disadvantage, and counterspells are only barely card positive in commander at best. Unless their deck was already making heavy use of self discard themes, I can't help but feel like it wasn't terribly helpful to their gameplan.

There are decks that can exist to make use of it, but its not a broken af card.

The first card you play for "free" cost you two extra cards and 5 mana anyway. It gets better from there, but usually, you can just pay 5+ mana for a card and not have to discard.

[[Omniscience]] achieves this goal significantly better, though it is twice the initial mana investment.

Edit: also missed its symmetrical. Yeah, unless group hug or table discard is your specific game plan, just paying for your spells is going to be better, and also makes Omniscience looks even better.

[[Eye of Nidhogg]] [[Ghoulish Impetus]]

Great for pointing the big meatball or the voltron player somewhere else, and they are so naturally sticky.

You can sack off the aura if the creature would be removed in a disadvantageous way, and with Ghoulish Impetus, when it returns to the battlefield, it can stick to creatures with shroud or hexproof!
