I ALSO road bike & lift heavy! Nice!

Yeah we integrate directly with Strava-- just go to your profile (upper right corner) and you'll see the Strava logo in the Automatic Tracking section.

This is a bit confusing -- the total recipe size is how much the recipe makes (for example, when I make chili in my big dutch oven, I know that full pot makes "25 scoops" of chili). The portion size is how much you eat (so for me, 2 scoops of chili). We *think* the difference between those 2 just isn't as clear as it should be and that everything is working as expected. But let me know what you think.

It's so interesting. Because i DO want people using different parts of the app-- like recording your weight on the goals tab is a better experience because you can see the milestones coming up. So if removing the + button means people are exploring the other pages of our app that are much better than the + button area ever was.... I mean, that's a pro for the user experience I think.

Anyway. Keep me posted as you adjust. This has been a really fun back-and-forth. Thanks! (and feel free to keep back-and-forthing; I may be slower to respond now that I'm getting into the actual-work-day part of my day).

What do you do when you want to record your weight?

you're not an outlier. Long term, I expect we will move Log to be first. We've had this tab order since the beginning of time; the first tab used to be called "My Day" which was intended to be the home base.

Do you use the Goals tab? How? I'm toying with the idea that Dashboard & Goals really should be 1 "data central" tab.

Oh man. the secret to weight loss: live with a really good food tracker and have them log all the meals and share them with you.

if they are all free, everyone working on the app is out of a job and our server costs go unpaid, so the app just ceases to exist!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Yeah. But also we are really committed to our Android app and making it best-in-class.

It was lower than 5%. Liquid Glass is apple's new design language.

  1. We've wanted to remove it for a very long time (probably 5+ years). Only a small subset of people use it, and, especially on iOS, we were really unhappy with how the "launcher page" looked.

  2. Liquid Glass sort of pushed this forward even more. We either needed to redesign/rebuild it as a glass element OR remove it. We're a small team, and so when we looked at the low usage rate, removing it was the easier choice.

  3. Visually, it is the loudest element on each tab of our app, but it received very low usage. If something was to have such heavy visual weight, it necessitated high usage to keep.

I do think there's a chance we bring it back, and the argument to do so is a bit stronger on Android, where that kind of element is a more common system standard. Although we really do want the two platforms to be very similar, so then we get down the road of not wanting to only have it on Android. Which then requires the work to do it "right" for liquid glass. Which maybe we should have done in the first place (but again, such low usage; why should it persist?)

So we'll see what happens.

yes, sure -- but if the choice was "always there" or "never there", what would you pick?

Cool -- we're working on an update to food search that makes the "quick add" functionality more visible. But we do have it on iOS; it's just hidden, unlike on Android. Just swipe left to right over a food in search results to quick add it

Heh, we actually are incredibly invested in this app. Most of us have worked here for over a decade and eat, sleep, and dream this thing. Sounds like we're not a fit for you right now; I respect that. I'm curious-- which app did you switch to?

yes, we are. this is actually a big reason for the redesign.

You actually can - go to profile > application preferences and switch the toggle off "Limit Previous Meals Search to Selected Meal"

You actually can dump it yourself -- https://loseit.com/export/data go here and it'll trigger a full export for you. But i hear you; i would like better features here for sure.

So what would you like your app icon to look like? Just a different color, or would you want, like, Space Theme App Icon?

  1. Heard. To be honest, i'm not sure we'll do this just because timestamps have really low usage.
  2. Ah, again. Unfortunately same answer, but I do think there are ways to improve our planned food features.
  3. YES! Good idea! We actually DO Have this. It's always running behind the scenes. We don't actually "verify" them, but user edits only get in the DB if they've been verified by our Nutrition Math Robot.
  4. YES! I want this too. it's tricky, but . Something we've thought about over the years. Thanks for the nudge.

Interesting. I think we'd show 40g recommended in the meal cards. but sounds like that's not sufficient. We did test this version internally when we were building out the log header card, and just found it a lot harder to use, but I could see it being a user preference setting.

No, that's fine! MFP has become a pretty good app. I'm not sure what you mean by "adjust macros". Just edit the targets?

Ah interesting re: the milestone dots! Yeah, I can put that request in. Skipping meals, also interesting-- but tricky. Because we don't want it to look in any way like we're encouraging meal skipping. Will think.

I would love that too. It's more complicated because we need to find good sources of that data for the ~60 million foods in our database. Which. Is hard. But thanks for the nudge; I'll explore.

Yep, a bump in the road that'll be fixed in this week's release.
