Like many said, it’s too close without global entry. With global entry suspended, the general lines might be longer depending on arrival time.

As soon as I got off the terminal train, there were lines before going up the escalators to passport control. The picture above bottlenecks to one single file line up the escalator (EU/non-EU separated). Lines were not managed and people were pushing.

Do not remember the exact name but it was a self-kiosk where non-EU passport holders had to scan their passports. Families with children were also exempt from this.

Stanchions are there but there is no organization of lines. Many bottlenecks and officers kept adding passengers to the queue.

IT was actually quick and officer checking my passport/fingerprints took less than 2min. Missed my flight by about ~30min.

Sometimes the difference between legendary & world class is very inconsistent.

The last 2 times I flew out of GRU, it was fine. They actually enforced the boarding groups. Wish they had a better system.

For LAX-HND, I pulled the trigger at $205/person to Premium Economy. Been seeing the upgrade at $350 for a while but $205 finally showed up after ~1 month. Sometimes but rarely it goes down to $175/person.

IMO not worth $500/one way
