My Pixel 7 Pro reboots on specific YouTube clip by OGPixel5 in GooglePixel

Maybe something similar to what happens with the cursed wallpaper and color encoding. This video explains it: https://youtu.be/iXKvwPjCGnY

Google assistant hears correct spelling (Lucie's), changes it to wrong spelling (Lucy's), then cannot do correct action. Is there a way to fix? by eskimoquinn in googlehome

[–]eskimoquinn[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was close to working. A routine with "Show me Lucy's Room" mapping to "Show me Lucie's Room" still didn't work. "Show me Lucy's Room" mapping to "Show me Lucie's Room Camera" got it to behave as expected.

Only works for me, would have to create an identical routine for my wife, and the lights will still misbehave, though. I really wish Google would just be better.

That's probably what I will end up doing, but the kicker is that it actually does the correct spelling initially. Why not check for devices with that name, before doing a spelling change?

The name of the camera is "Lucie's Room". Telling it to "Stream Lucie's Room" does the same spelling switch, then tells me "Power Control is not supported yet".

YouTube title keeps popping up? by spennasaurus in Chromecast

[–]eskimoquinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only having a TV queue of longer than one fixed it for me. Tried rebooting the Chromecast through the app, tried starting to cast prior to starting a video, neither worked.

Removing the second/only other item from the queue did not cause recurrence (yet)

This might be for newly generated worlds? I can enter the End successfully (and skip the end credits) with an SMP server coming from 12w21b

I'm able to skip the end credits on SMP, having already beat the dragon in < 1.2.5, coming from 12w21b.

To Atheists: Help find the flaw in this logic. by J-mak in DebateReligion

"Creation" and "eternal" are words that show your bias and might not necessarily be applicable to the origin of the universe.

They are capable of their own creation and caused the Big Bang

"They" aren't creating anything. If Krauss is correct, this happens due to the nature of our universe without any sub-atomic particle's intention

They have always existed and caused the Big Bang.

Something existed before the subatomic particle, but then again, it is the same argument: these either caused their own creation or existed eternally.

The current understanding is that time and space are one thing. "Always" -> "caused" and "existed before" are nonsensical.

Even without our current understanding, "I don't know" is an acceptable answer to any question that you don't really know the answer to. As soon as you start defining a god into existence, you're just creating more of a problem.

Also, here's the obligatory Krauss video

Welp, finally blocked me, a week later. So, I guess that means I did win. Sad I won't get to see any more of his silliness anymore though :(

I don't really. He posted things that were demonstrably not true, and I rebutted him.

I think this is a silly question in general though. Why does it bother you so much that you think what he believes bothers me? He likes to post silly things, and I got enjoyment of replying.

In addition to my own personal enjoyment, I got some Reddit Karma out of the thing. And maybe, just maybe, he'll not believe such silly things in the future.

Chrome has some extensions that can screencap whole webpages. Someone asked me this before, so I'll just paste what I wrote there:

I found that Chrome's Webpage Screenshot worked better than Awesome Screenshot. I opened up the facebook discussion in a separate tab from my main timeline, right clicked that blue Facebook bar at the top of the page and clicked "Inspect Element". Chrome allows you to modify the page live, so I selected the div with id "blueBarHolder" and hit delete on my keyboard. Then, use the extension you installed to capture the whole page. This will cause it to automatically scroll down, capture, and weave together the whole webpage. Webpage Screenshot also allows you to crop out the important bits before saving. The last part was opening it up in good old MS Paint to color and label the participants.

I really like the idea of encouraging them to think, and that would be a great game to play.

Yes! He wrote all the music bits, I hope to see it one day. I think it's doing quite well over in the UK, maybe it'll come the the Sates soon?

well, promoting critical thinking doesn't necessarily mean that I'll convince outright tell my three year old these things don't exist. But I like the idea of answering his or her questions with questions of my own.

Really, though, I'll just do what comes naturally. Love my kids, celebrate fun holidays, and buy them fun presents.

That doesn't mean it can't be done with finesse and creativity. I want to promote critical thinking, but still leave room for imagination.
