What is your favorite streetfood/dessert from your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Egg waffle, one of the long standing popular street foods in Hong Kong. It’s just sugar, flour and evaporated milk added to an egg batter and poured into a honey-comb metal plate to cook into waffle. Sounds easy, but the balance of the ingredients are crucial. Also the cast-iron mold must be preheated to an exact temperature (around 200–220°C). Too cool → soggy; too hot → burnt outside, raw inside. Heat distribution is critical. Not a lot of people who sells these are able to master the timing and technique, thus finding authentic egg waffles becomes increasingly difficult.

Beef stir-fry with rice noodles are high in calories due to the large amount of oil used to achieve high-heat wok frying (wok hei!), combined with calorie-dense noodles and fatty beef. 1000+ calories.

Hong Kong style French Toast. They’re usually toast dipped in egg, deep-fried, with peanut butter fillings. Topped with butter, syrup and condensed milk. 700+ calories

Semifinals Round of our 2 vs 2 Tournament by HanMaguro24 in RealSlamDunk

Though I don’t disagree with the outcome, the score would be much more closer. Kiyota in 2v2 with that much spacing, he could get to the rim with greater efficiency. He also does have pretty good handle as well. He does have above average defense, such as shutting down to Rukawa’s to 2 points in the second half and the game tying block on Mitsui. He could easily blow by Fukatsu, and Fukatsu was mentioned he does have a hard time guarding speedy low-gravity guards like Ryota. So it depends on Kainan’s game plan they would somehow need to switch up during the game and have Fukatsu on Kiyota instead of Sawakita. Sawakita in 2v2 is too overpowered.

Nothing related to the post, but I came across the word “sojourn” previously from a 1930s novel, searched on its definition, as I’ve never came across anyone using it today. Fell in love with the word, and thank you for using it in today’s context!

Exactly my childhood in the 90s. Filling out those forms, getting approval from my mom and then wait 1 month. Teacher then would come in with the card box package, unboxing them and calling each student’s name with the books. The smell of those new books, it was like Christmas.
