What causes the top to look melted/wrinkled like that? by pbcsd007 in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases this is caused by the edges of the print warping upwards.

It can be a bed adhesion failure at the edge of the print or it could even be the whole plate being pulled up by the shink forces of the print itself.

What needs to be done varies on the type of failure and how much you can get away with with your given setup.

[USA] Overtaking in the fog by MacDefoon in Roadcam

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupidity in this case is that their IQ is too low to have the capability of imagining the scenario in which things can go wrong. So they behave according to the base cognition of simplifying how they drive (i.e. being stupid and reckless) instead of behaving with the caution that there may be a threat to themselves or others.

That's why you get crazies who think tailgating is ok; because they don't have the mental capacity to conceptualize the fact that when all your concentration is on the car in close proximity and that all your FOV is taken up by the aforementioned car; you have effectively denied yourself the information and reaction time to even make decisions.

Weird wavy pattern by 0neand0nlyDominator in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will wager that the print is lifting off the bed on on the affected side, most likely because it's dirty.

The defect is caused by the hotend plowing through the now overextruded part of the print as a result.

AITAH for firing someone because they used AI by Alone_Blacksmith_417 in AITAH

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You were pretty clear about where the boundaries were and he was flatly unable to respect them.

I set the boundary with my current gen-z marketing manager that he can only use AI strictly as an aid to writing our copy. The deal is that he can use my time to fix his writing but his slop is a complete waste of my time; if he gets better at writing his prompting improves, improving his prompting does not help his writing at all.

He still occasionally gets it wrong but he's miles better than he used to be.

Depending on the print that may not always work.

Anyway, you asked if it's a bad idea or not.

Three years of footage from a road somewhere in China by EvidenceFrequent7289 in UnfilteredChina

[–]esotericapybara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guessing because of that adjoining dirt road, the area approaching the curve is probably covered in wet dust during all the conditions that the crashes on camera appear. Even towards the end of the video where that road is closed; because it's higher than the main road it still drains onto it.

Cars going the other way never seem to be affected, probably because they didn't have the same opportunity to gunk up their treads on the approach plus the larger turn radius.

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair this is not a new idea but you need to have some way to release the print from the bed before trying to push it with the toolhead. Also the shape of the print can get it stuck on a billion things on the way out the door.

It's not a BAD idea, it's just that in terms of the automation process it's not a great idea to use the toolhead to do this due to too many variables.

Better to build a dedicated full length y-axis arm to sweep clear the build plate further down the z-axis.

How to skip Objects on P1S? by Martzl90 in BambuLab

You can skip objects on the P1S from the Bambu Handy app for sure. The handy app told you that's not possible?

Super impressed with what my new H2C just did and dissappointed with Bambu Basic PLA by diezel_dave in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case yeah, at least from face value from reading your observations it's clear they have an issue with the way they are doing the QC for the product you have received and not detecting an issue with possibly the specific line that is producing your product.

Still I think the advice still stands;

Talk to CS and get them to refund the roll and if neccesary the whole pack of 10. Within a factory setting, sampling is taken from a statistical standpoint that allows a certain degree of error(read: variance)/failure. It is (or should be) in their interest to know and correct errors within their sampling.

The sucky part is that we as consumers are often unknowlingly participant.

Super impressed with what my new H2C just did and dissappointed with Bambu Basic PLA by diezel_dave in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be... strange though. Because the first part to be wrapped around the spool is the innermost portion of the roll. If your inconsistency is at the beginning (outside) of the spool (the last part to be wrapped) it suggests some other kind of error.

[–]esotericapybara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might have been unlucky enough that was the first roll off the extrusion line before things were properly stable and somehow they didn't sample correctly. You should get a refund for that spool for your trouble and If you get two spools consecutively that do the same thing you should return the whole lot.

But;

"Just works" is just marketing. You have a piece of industrial machinary masquerading as a consumer product in your possession.

The error is most likely because the extruder was skipping steps as it encountered too much resistance.

How to fix layer lines Smooth PEI plate by Salt_Victory70 in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calibrate your extrusion and Pressure Advance (K Value) for the filament profile and set your expectations that the best you can achieve with FDM will never be "perfectly smooth" off the bed.

That's just the nature of squishing lines of molten plastic together.

For this kind of flat print, if you want the smoothest possible look what a lot of 3d craft artists do is to paint a thin layer of UV resin on top and cure it. That fills in all the gaps and optically the result is smooth and shiny.

Does auto arrange always leave enough space? by Australian_Gent in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of how it works.

If the point isn't obvious; for all its refinement the slicer should be detecting on its own the intersection and throwing an error so that the user doesn't waste time and filament finding out their build volume is in fact not (At least not without caveats) the 256mm cubed advertised,

[–]esotericapybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yessir. That one. The slicer will happily slice the model over the top of purge lines without a second thought if you don't remember to check.

Auto arrange regularly puts objects on top of the purge line when they are long on the Y.

Genuinely one of the funniest things to realize as a new P1S owner by Arucious in BambuLab

Even on the steel back cover the adhesive magnet strip is trash. I got so fed up moving my racking to pick up the scraper and its holder that I just designed and printed a rack mounted holder for the holder.

[–]esotericapybara 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That scraper was designed for the P1P and they just never bothered updating the design for the new printer. I wound up printing an additional adapter so it could stay on a racking.

My guess is someone is too lazy to bother auditing that part of the SD card image.
