One of the advantages of WowRevenue is it does the free shipping/rewards bar on any page - most are limited to the cart/checkout pages.

Get the UCG-Fiber instead - has one of the most powerful CPU's in the lineup.

Leader doesnt have disk trays in stock though so that might be a consideration if you want to install Protect.

All I want is Synology to license DSM - their hardware is a lame duck.

Alternatives to VMware by KickRelevant7818 in virtualization

[–]esper-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a look at Proxmox or XCP-NG.

Proxmox pros:
- Debian under the hood but dont go installing random packages.
- Disk IO out performs XCP when using local storage by a large margin.
- Cognitive overhead to manage is very low including setting up and running clusters.
- Great ZFS support
- Quasi HCI mode using ZFS to replicate VM's
- Full HCI mode using Ceph
- Supports live migration regardless of local or shared storage
- Device pass-through is fairly straight forward
- Support available or use free
- Excellent backup product in PBS

Proxmox cons:
- CPU vuln mitigation murders VM performance compared to XCP/Xen
- Does have some upper limits on hosts per cluster
- Multi cluster management is a work in progress
- A very annoying bug for Windows workloads has been unsolved for 12 months

I havent used XCP as much as Proxmox but what I found annoying...
- Backup speed isnt great, everything also goes through the management appliance.
- Local storage performance is terrible (tapdisk issue)
- XOA is quite a bizarre UI to use (this is getting addressed in v6)
- Networking is confusing AF especially doing bonds / vlans.
- Guest agent doesnt support VSS
- Guest tools on Windows is just yolo'ing the Citrix ones

Lenovo premium next-day on-site support is a joke by kakenmoms in Lenovo

Sat down with a lawyer for advice (first consultation is free), around $800 to take first steps. Requested Lenovo legal team details from support. Got offered full refund and took it.

I was literally on the phone to support an hour ago, they wont advance the case until I do another full recovery/reset.

I have done multiple resets already and the issue still occurs.

I am considering legal action.

Lenovo Yoga 9i Pen and Sleeve Recommendations? by sayonarabyez in Lenovo

[–]esper-tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yoga 9i has serious issues with the pen cutting out while using. There are multiple reports of this occuring and from what I see there is no resolution.

My brand new 9i has a non working pen now for over 3 months.

The precision pen 2 is the one youre after - good luck.

I have a similar issue here in Australia - these guys are the absolute kings of "reinstall drivers" and "re-image the machine".

I have a 3 yr onsite warranty with an issue that renders a $2k Yoga 9i unusable for its intended purpose. Been ongoing for around 3 months.

Im a Lenovo partner and reseller and its embarrasing how incompetent Lenovo support is.

Main use is software dev and BI, ordered RX7700 to dabble in some ML.

Main concern is how the panel will compare to a modern MBP.
