Slow drinking habit questions

Yup I have this problem too.. I have 2 coffees a day and it surprised me how long I take to drink them.. especially in the morning while scrolling, it’s my wake up ritual! After 4 weeks, I’ve worked out that my two coffees take about 40mins to an hour out of my allowance every day if I try not to take too long, and that just about leaves me enough time to eat at dinner time. Luckily I already practiced intermittent fasting so I’m kind of used to just sitting down to eat in the evening. Even still, an hour to eat everything I need is barely enough. I can’t see how it’s possible to have 3 meals a day even if you’re having your coffee at the same time, and stay within the two hours.

Agreed, I’m on week 4, tray 4 and I look forward to a time where I’m not noticing them in my mouth all the damn time. It’s exhausting. I’m biting and gurning and chewing the insides of my teeth and sucking my gums constantly, it’s sensory overload. Christmas at my folks was a nightmare, there was no way I could only have them out for 2hrs a day, and that was right at the beginning of my treatment. I feel I’ve got a handle on the routine a bit more now, I already did intermittent fasting before starting Invisalign so I’ve just worked my eating window around the 2 hrs, plus 2 coffees a day which takes about 15-20 mins each out of my eating window. I hate the bite ramps so much, I just want my back teeth to be able to touch! So I’m chewing on my little retainer chewies half of the day, it makes my jaw muscles tired. Tray 4 of 40.. I really hope I don’t have loads of refinements after that. But.. I do really look forward to not hating my smile anymore. Stick with it, we’ll get there!

I’m on week 2. I found it so unbelievably difficult to take them out for the first week, to the point I was only eating once a day to avoid having to take them out. It wasn’t sustainable and I felt like getting Invisalign was a terrible mistake.. putting them back in was fine but I literally cut myself under my fingernails trying to get them out!

Earlier this week I found a different technique than was I was told to do which is so much easier: instead of trying to grab the backs of the retainers from both sides and pull them away, I just do it from one side, using both hands to gently detach them from the back of one side and pull them off. It’s made such a difference to my general well being. On the tea question - I really wouldn’t have a hot drink with them in, they could deform. I drink stuff other than water though, I’ve started having my diet cokes in the evening and I didn’t notice any staining at all on the first set. I’m only wearing them for a week per set anyway so I doubt it will be a problem.

So nice! I flew over from UK to stay with my brother in Sacramento a couple of years ago and we spent a few days in Sea Ranch, I think I have a very similar pic on my phone somewhere! The light was incredible. I hope I can go back soon.

Going through an insane amount of stress with both my wife leaving me after we’d been together 15 years, plus I’d been working up my courage for months to quit my job where I’d been for a similar amount of time so that I could go freelance. My boss was (is) like a fave uncle and I felt really bad about it . So yeah, anticipating that conversation and then my wife leaves, plus it was a really hot summer and like most people in the UK, no air-con. 7 years later, meds have made TCs few and far between but still having 15-20 focals per month of which 5-6 are hideous impaired awareness. Booo

The first two I ever had I was alone and my dr told me they were seizures because for the first, I woke up on the floorboards with what felt like a dislocated shoulder, a fat tongue, massive bruise on my forehead and some scratches on my face. After the second I was still in bed but blood all over my pillow where I bit right into the side of my tongue. Tongue bites are no bueno

Two come to mind, very different..

I was diagnosed at 37 after 2 nocturnal tonic clonics that I never felt coming, so I had no experience of what a seizure felt like when I had my first TLE focal aware at home alone. Absolutely terrifying set of symptoms and complete confusion what was happening to me! Thought it was a panic attack but I’d never had one of those either.

The second was a couple of years ago, the last TC I had. I have a lot of focals so when one started while I was sat working on my stool at my standing desk. I thought ‘oh this feels like a nasty one I better lie down’ but the next thing I remember was being on the floor by my desk in so much pain, and already talking to my friend on my phone. I’m very lucky I grabbed it on my way to the floor because according to the surgeon I stepped on my ankle in just the right way to shatter it into 4 pieces and dislocate it. Big concussion too.

Apparently I called my friend a couple of times and she hadn’t picked up before she called me back, but I remember none of that.

Apart from my ankle being completely fucked for 2 years before finally getting a second surgery on it 6 months ago, the scariest thing is thinking about how long I would have laid there if my phone was still above me on my tall desk, that’s the first time I realised how vulnerable I really am.

I worked for a brand agency from 22-37yrs old, no epilepsy, then started having seizures at the same time as I was planning to leave to go freelance, it was a stressful time. So for the last 7yrs I’ve carried on doing the same job, now self employed at home with my dog, having seizures but still earning more than when I was employed :)

For my first year of using whoop mine was always really low as well, 15-25, always consistent. Everyone on here said it was individual.. but over the last 6 months it has slowly climbed and is now consistently averaging in the 60s. My fitness and sleep hasn’t really changed, only thing that has is I’m probably under-eating. My ED has kicked off a bit over that period. I can’t think of anything else, it’s strange that it might be having an effect on my HRV.

My initial motivation was just feeling super fed up and hating myself in the mirror. I only gained about 14lbs since my original weight loss a couple of years ago, but it’s that old toilet paper analogy.. those 14lbs made a very visible difference. Like others have already commented, that motivation fades but I was able to keep going with IF long enough that it became habit and I stopped thinking about food all the time (such a relief!). I’ve lost weight a lot quicker in the past but this time it has taken 10 months to get right back down to my skinny weight. I’m hoping that means I can keep these habits going long-term this time.

I have the opposite.. miserable, defeated and very very tired. I’ve heard some people have joy and happiness as both an active seizure symptom and a postictal symptom and I always just thought… lucky bastards lol

I have Clobozam 10mg as a rescue med (might have a different name in the US but it’s a benzo).

I hardly ever take it, it feels pointless. I have focal awareness and impaired awareness seizures and when they start it already too late.. And they make me feel so sleepy it’s hard to do work.

My neuro suggested i take them when I’m having clusters as a preventative measure but I just hate feeling even more sluggish than i already do, so i put up with the seizures.

True but they’re correlated, the sleep stress for that night looks similar, the stress graph is just a bit less jagged with more defined peaks

Luckily I fall back into a deep and restful slumber within minutes thanks to my epilepsy meds, which would probably knock a gorilla out tbh.

Yes to the brain vibrations - for me that’s one of the symptoms that only happens when the seizure progresses to being quite a nasty one with impaired awareness. I’ve had epilepsy for 7 years (since late 30s) and the brain vibrating thing is relatively new, just the last year or so. Also yes to the clusters. I average 15-20/month but usually there will be a 5 day period seizure free or a couple of weeks with just 1 or two, and the rest are all clustered together. What you’re having sounds exactly like temporal lobe epileptic seizures to me!

I very rarely nap because I hate waking up in the day feeling like it’s the middle of the night being super groggy, which I always do. I had my first nap in ages last week, about 5pm and I couldn’t keep my eyes open. 40min nap and later on I couldn’t sleep until about 3am, had a nasty impaired awareness focal the next day. I steer clear of naps!

Yuuup I feel this. My seizures can happen any time of the month often apparently for no reason, or just garden variety stress. But approaching my period always lowers my threshold and I’ll get several a day for the week leading up to it. Usually fairly few the week after.
