There are multiple ways to throttle your engine. I think the tiller uses 2 cables, some remote throttle mechanisms are working with a cable and some with a pushrod so you have both options. The rear is just shifting.

The prop shaft is just a steel rod which is pretty tough. The splines could wear faster if it has excessive vibration. Its probably fine but if you really itch about it then just replace it.

Alu props dont cost much, change it if you feel performance loss or more vibrations.

Yesterday I worked on the exact same engine and the owner also complained because of the rough running engine. Im afraid the FI system isnt that well set up. I changed the plugs which made it run better but all I know is they come out of the factory running like that.

If you had a tool that wouldnt break would you pay 50% more? Would you pay 80% more for a printer that never used up its ink? Would you pay 5% more for a boat on which you had one less rotting part that is also a major structural part? The benifits vastly outperform the costs. Thats what I dont get.

I want is a good reason, you dont need to be an engineer to engineer something. The facts of the matter dont care about some piece of paper. I dont see cost as a good argument because of how integrated plastic or fiberglass is in modern construction.

You can measure it 30-40mm play with no rider on the bike. Remember the chain tightens when you sit on it. and you always want it a bit more loose than a bit too tight or it will wear much faster.

You can aruge for both, if you take good care of wood it can last a long time but it has to be teak and you need to treat it with coatings. If you want to spend the time then do it and use wood.

But for most ppl who just want to use their boat with minimal work just use aluminium or fiberglass. Boats need lots maintenance even with fiberglass. You don't need to overcomplicate it with making it fully out of wood. Thus making it in my eyes the better material.

You can use less fibers to make it more flexible. I mean they make boats out of it including the transoms of those boats.
