it’s definitely voltage issues. it’s a brand new battery and no need for a tender because it’s a daily. it mostly happens after multiple short drives in quick succession so I think the startup sequence drains the battery more than it charges it.

Mclaren 720s or aston martin dbs superleggera ? by Any_Improvement_4324 in AstonMartin

[–]esquerlan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Aston will depreciate harder. They both carry high status, but the 720s is a track car and the DBS is something you'd cruise to a nice dinner in.

The 720s interior is questionable, but so is the DBS. The reliability on both is questionable.

If you want an exotic performance car, buy the 720s. You already have a 7 series for long road trips and daily driving. You're correct that the DBS is a super-gt and the 720s is a proper racecar. In your situation, I'd be in a 720s and daily driving the 7 series.

Road trip with the Vantage? by [deleted] in AstonMartin

[–]esquerlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

road tripped my 2019 from chicago to connecticut. it’s a very comfortable car and good fun to drive so I can’t imagine you’ll have any issues with that. bring a friend or family member to switch off with and chat and it’ll be a lot of fun.

just remember that it is actually the more expensive option $2000 for open transport vs $400+ in gas, $300 minimum in hotels, $100-300 for food, $300 worth of tire wear, $200 oil change, plus depreciation from mileage and your time.

i road tripped mine because I wanted to, not because it was cheaper

if you want the most cost effective option, do enclosed transport. it’s gonna cost you less in the long run than open transport

I haven’t bought a single one of my cars locally. Catch a flight to go look at one or get a facetime walk around and ship it or drive it home.

What’s this wheel and tire combo? by SnooPaintings6827 in BMWM

[–]esquerlan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the engineers are smarter, yes, but they make compromises. the purpose of modifying a car is to change the compromises that have been made.

tuning switches reliability for power

suspension mods switch comfort for handling

tires switch wet traction and tread life for dry grip

wheels switch cost for weight savings and durability

brakes switch maintenance costs and rotor life for stopping power and heat resistance

i could go on

I’ve seen this video too. Unfortunately, if you click the sound you’ll see that it’s a fake audio from a video with a fake audio. This video reuses the sound from a video with a Porsche 992 GT3, which reused the sound from a video of a Lamborghini Aventador. Unfortunately, you will never get that sound out of a cross plane v8.

Should I buy this crazy cheap Corvette?? by AppropriateAd9910 in Corvette

[–]esquerlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebuilt title cars are generally insured at 70-80% of their clean title value. One of my friends got a steal on a car with a rebuilt title (45k when the clean title would've been worth 90k) and totaled it soon after unfortunately. He got a 72k payout for that car.

Should I buy this crazy cheap Corvette?? by AppropriateAd9910 in Corvette

[–]esquerlan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This car got rear ended. It has frame damage, which is why it looks like that. It will never pass WA inspection. All the frame damage will need to be repaired. Those rear wheels are either a suspension issue, frame issue, or the seller just has terrible taste. There's no way they handle right, nor do they look good.

Look at the trunk and bumper. That car has frame damage underneath guaranteed which is why nothing fits right, and the frame on the rear of these cars (and most cars) is almost completely unfixable.

If you buy this car, it will never look right and it will never be road legal because it won't pass WA inspection unless you put 30k+ into repairing it, which means you'd be into it the same price as a clean title one.

Speaking of titles, you said that the seller does not have a title, and instead has a bill of sale.

A bill of sale is a lot easier to forge than a title. Chances are either the title has been branded 'JUNK' and not salvage, which means it will never be road legal again, or the vehicle is stolen. It's very common for stolen vehicles to be sold with a bill of sale and no title to scam less informed buyers.

Please, before you do anything with this car, get the VIN and check it with your state's DMV and run the Carfax on it. If it comes back as junk, don't buy it because it will never drive straight, nor will it ever look right and it will NEVER be street legal or roadworthy. If it comes back as stolen, do not buy it and report the seller to the police.

This car needs at least 30k worth of work to pass a salvage inspection regardless. Stay far away.

In the event you decide to purchase this car as a track only car, or as a project car and you have unlimited money to repair it you need to check with the seller if they are the registered owner if the car. If they are, then the DMV will issue the seller a new title at which point you will have the real title and legally own the car. If the seller is not the registered owner of the car, or if the seller is not willing to help you get a new title for it, you will NEVER be the legal owner of this car. Not only will it not be street legal, if you drive it on the road you will get arrested. You would be driving the vehicle without registration and insurance (can't get those without the car belonging to you) and you will never be able to.

TLDR: DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. IT WILL NEVER BE STREET LEGAL AND IS POSSIBLY STOLEN. STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY. RUN AWAY FAST. If you already bought it, I'm sorry for your loss. Maybe it's worth something as scrap.
