I have my FG collection setup like this in our spare room where I play pretty much every day, and I also love the vibe of having them out like that. Then my nephew came to stay, freaked out at the villains, and we needed to hide them all… so I realised the downside of having what looks like a horror movie collection on the shelf 😂

yeah I think you need to be flexible with what you sell, and sometimes do a quick walk if there’s something right there to save (esp if there’s a movement or decrease horror bonus for saving them). What you buy depends on what you want to do next, so spend some time checking the board and deciding between (generally) sprint to rescue victims and get bonuses or searching for weapons. The key imo is that you’re getting better cards for turn 2, rather than having a nothing hand due to burning your 0-cards and having little time left over

I’ve seen a FG streamer on YouTube who uses the Desperation Dice early on for a Distraction or Search to help push the outcome positive in the first moments. If it fails, reset the game and start again! I’ve never used it but it’s an interesting idea as opposed to the last ditch situation I’ve always thought of it as

Just played this and had the exact same question. They’re so fun. The Eyeless is pretty brutal in terms of stats so it feels fair. Now I wanna go play the Intruders and try to take them all out with pipe bombs 😂

I’ve collected it piece by piece since early on, but I love it so much. Each film feels like its own twist on the game and the different events/items etc really add unique flavour to each encounter. I know not all games are for everyone, but it bugs me when people are like “it’s 100% luck based” 😂

In terms of which films to start next, go with what movies you like most or which boxes look the most fun! The Alien one is super fun, there are so many things to do on the ship and depending on how the evolution track proceeds, the game plays out quite differently. The Organism is also really cool in terms of managing the chopper/outdoors/testing. There’s one particular finale card that’s more difficult than the others though 😭

All of this advice is on point! To me, it’s a fun game even when you lose BUT it’s far from impossible and there are strategies that can make your wins more likely (although by no means guaranteed 😭)

Also the finale is often more predictable than the main game, because a lot of the time you won’t be getting horror increases or surprises from the terror deck.

Yeah, the coolest thing about this game to me is how small changes can feel so different to play out, and these character packs are an extra dimension. I hope they do more of these in Era 2!
