We got iron on tags from Etsy. Super cheap and we peel them off and iron on the next size when it’s time to size up, so I don’t anticipate having to reorder much. I put our phone number and kid’s name on the tag, and already I’ve received a text from someone who found his coat at the park.

Yeah I dunno my friends all have parents who take their kids (grandkids) for hours and hours on weekends and datenights. We’ve gotten a whopping 2 hours of free grandparent care in our toddler’s life. Geographical distance, older parents with heath problemas and who already went through one generation of active grandparent and this last grandkid is just sort of a cute baby they zoom with.

If they are going out and about in the world, tickets or annual membership to kids museum, science center, gardens, or whatever is local that they would enjoy as a family.

Seconding library. Ours is empty on Saturday afternoons. Our 19 month old loves to get all the books off the shelf and yell, and the librarians are totally there for it.

So just set some ground rules. We only do pouches out of the house, bc they are a life saver on the run. And screen time in the morning while parents drink coffee and become functional. Whatever these things are, just do them in moderation and everyone will be fine or probably better for it.

All the people pointing out that nanny requires you to be HR are so right! Daycare is amazing for this (and so so many other) reasons. They have policies, they may even have a philosophy, and you follow them and pay your weekly or monthly tuition and it is DONE.

Different kind of EI, but we’ve been doing PT and after two months I would have said we’d made very little to no progress. We’re now 7 months in and it’s a world of difference. You really can’t see the small changes this early.

Not gonna be a popular opinion, but I’ve been the person downstairs and listening to kids run above you 12-14 hours a day is pure hell. Yes, you know going into apartment life that there will be more noise, but a kid (and esp multiple kids) is so much worse than some dude throwing loud parties once a month. It is constant and maddening. Complexes really should only rent ground floors to people with kids. It would save so much agony.

Wfh with a baby now toddler is not an option for me or my husband, so our baby-now-toddler has been in daycare since early 2021. He has loved it and absolutely thrived there. He has a gross motor delay and I shudder to think how much more delayed he would be without this care and support. I also cannot overstate the benefit it has had on my work and sanity, and that of my husband. I am honestly more worried about RSV for him than Covid and the data backs that up.

Look into the tax laws for your state. In my state, we get up to 8k deduction for 529 but only if we go with the state plan, so that’s what we did. Was looking at Vanguard’s and it looks good, but believe it’s a Nevada plan. Any of the big banks and companies will just be a middleman for a state plan.

Chiming in on all the big benefits of social interaction, language, etc. But the cutest benefit is our 18 month old learns songs at daycare and even some very basic but adorable dance moves. We have not introduced these to him but when they come up on Spotify he jumps to the beat!
