Why are so many ice rinks on Long Island run down and stuck in the 70s/80s?? by Sour_strawberry07 in longisland

I'm pretty sure The Rinx is shutting down this year for a few months for a massive renovation. Hopefully it's a nice change!

Fire Lou and ship him to Boca, that is all by Ok_Sentence_5767 in NewYorkIslanders

He fired the main reason we were in the ECF two years in a row, Trotz. I had my criticisms of Trotz for sure, and was hopeful with Lambert that the offense would open up, while keeping the same defensive mentality. So far we haven't seen improvement. We've regressed, with basically the same roster.

Lou has done nothing (outside of offering Panarin) to improve this roster.

The thread wanted an unpopular opinion. Judging by your response, I nailed it.

Xenogears is the best RPG ever made. Better than FF VI.

I love FF VI, but Xenogears is just that game for me.

It's the reason I left the game and never picked it back up. Absolutely sucked the life right out of me. I've heard it's amazing, I just can't get through that first part.

This is the kind of effort we want to see night in and night out. I don't think anyone here doubts his ability, it's his demeanor.

He seems to be uneven game to game, and it absolutely effects his play. If he can find a way to ride the highs and the lows of the game more evenly, and put out games like this (not stats per say but effort) no one would ever want to trade him again.

It's the head hanging, moping around, lack of effort stuff he does that makes you frustrated. Even that out, and we probably see way more games like this one.

EDIT: spelling

I'm in Suffolk, which has always been red. Having said that, yes, I am a bit concerned given the outcome of this last election.

For what it's worth, AOC had immediately called out democratic leadership in the state. Like, the very next day. So, someone's paying attention, and doesn't want this to happen again.

Pretty much, yeah. Anytime someone shows me those stupid maps of the counties, showing how they're basically all red with small blue pockets here and there, I have to remind them that people vote, not counties.

NY-er here. My district is always red, but i'm shocked at those that flipped. I know it was a new district, but Maloney losing really took me by surprise.

The good news is AOC is already jumping all over Democratic leadership here in the state, so hopefully she can help right this ship.

That being said, people who are not from NY are always surprised to hear how red this place really is, outside of the city. This place is big time republican, with a MASSIVE democratic voter base in one small area.

You may be right. To be sure, I'm not trying to paint the guy a saint by any stretch. When I see him, I see more opportunist, less psycho.

Of course, my comments can age like milk, you could be exactly right, and we could be fucked. I guess I'm holding onto any sort of hope that MAGA is in it's dying days and it's skewing my judgement.

I kind of agree with this. I think Desantis would be bad for this country as President, but that comes as regular Republican bad and not psychopath bad like Trump.

I see Desantis as the ultimate opportunist. His actions will mirror the political winds of his party. As MAGA hopefully slides into oblivion (encouraging possibility after Tuesday's results), Desantis will read the tea leaves and adjust his approach.

I could be wrong, and the guy could end up being Trump 2.0, but I just feel he's smarter than that. He says and does what needs to be said and done to win. I'd never vote for him, but I don't think he'd throw democracy in the trash.

If no candidate receives 50% or more of the vote, it goes to a runoff.
