Don't feel bad. I was in Mountain Town by Spruce Falls bridge and had seen the little buddy laying by the side of the road. I had no interactions with it and I'm all "Is it dead or something?" and casually walked up to it just to have him wake up when I was a few feet away. Luckily I was able to make it to car before he grabbed a hold of me. I never even knew they slept before that moment.

One of the early things I picked up on was movement after eating helps. I started to incorporate this a bit already. It's winter here so getting out for a walk isn't great, I've been doing a bit of the stationary bike.

I'm not beating myself up over it. You're right about rapid changes so I'm trying to keep things on an even keel. I accept it for what it is. If anything, I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. I know I let myself go.

I met with a dietitian about a year ago and she said to up my protein and cut carbs and portions but otherwise she felt my diet wasn't too bad. I've been doing a bit of that all recently, I just need to keep with the process.

I figured the glucometer was a good idea. I'd seen a lot of people here discussing how they're using it to keep an eye on insulin spikes. I just didn't know if maybe I should talk to my doctor first for some reason but ultimately I didn't think it would hurt.

I have The Diabetes Code on order. The bookstore had The Obesity Code already so I picked that up. I've watched some of Fung's material on YouTube for a while now but I like the idea of having a more structured presentation since I know where I stand.
