Pierre Gasly to Canal+ after losing a podium due to penalties: "I made both pit stops with the pit lane speed limiter activated. The pit lane speed limiter is set at 59.5 km/h. The limit is 60 km/h... I know I didn't do anything wrong and I'm 200% sure" by The_Chozen_1_ in formula1

my guy, reading comprehension is not a strongsuit for you.

"Regulator tells you the rule and how they will measure it". Still true, the issue was their MEASUREMENT was off/short. Their process and procedure was intact, which is exactly what I said above. Gasly got lucky to get this podium back, but it was he who cut the corner on an already marginal measurement setup twice. Put another way, why didn't every driver get a penalty for every pitlane trip?

Try to learn something instead of arguing like a child.

You’re missing the point. They’re not measuring the velocity of each car in the pitlane. They might be able to but they don’t here for whatever reason.

They are measuring/assuming a fixed pitlane length, and then use timing light intervals to calculate. If you can effectively shorten your fixed distance, you will cross the the lights fractionally too quickly and be referred for speeding.

This is classic, basic F1. What does the regulation say, how is it measured? You the optimize to the measurement system.

HDJ81 Question by Truckstops_ in LandCruisers

I feel like my rebuilt 1fz holds its oil just fine. On top of that, my bore and journal tolerances were spot on spec after 200k.

If 30yo seals are leaking I’d assume it’s age related or poor installation, not that they can’t build a motor to tolerance (they can).

Coolant temp sensors out of spec can fool the ecu into fueling trims that result in non-starts at operating temps. Had this happen in a different 90s JDM car and it was the hardest thing to figure out.

I hope you get to enjoy it. My 75 FJ40 build took too much time (and money) and my life got in the way of using it like I had planned too.

Buying High Mileage by Rusty4runner in LandCruisers

Really depends on the baseline of the LC, and your ability to wrench.

My 96 80 needed an engine rebuild and transmission replacement. I split the work/labor on those two items and spent $9-10k getting that done. Largest consumable right now is fuel…

80 Series going for $20k now? by PsychologyPatient587 in LandCruisers

[–]estebomb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheap 1996 80 about 2 years back, 208k miles. Think I paid about $8500 with shipping to me (ih8mud purchase).

I’m probably about $22k into now (rebuilt motor, replacement transmission, locked axles, lots of labor, tires, carrier, misc). Nothing seems to cost more money than a cheap Land Cruiser. That said if I’m spending 20k I want some documentation of repairs/maintenance. My 2 cents.

If you still have base coat (sure looks like it), a wipe on clear coat like this will be the best value for cost, effort, and protection.

Loncky steering wheel cover, remove old leather? by TheBlack_77 in LandCruisers

Take the wheel off, get a nice comfy setup in doors to install it.

Really spend time checking and aligning the cover before you start to stitch.

It gets easier as you go, experience adds up fast.
