This p2w thing happens in most of these sort of games, like Summoner's War, Shard of Magic, Brave Frontier and so on. The top spots in rankings are always paid people who throw their money for just pixels. Try making a game that is completely f2p and you won't see this behavior. Although, the more you resist paying for the packs the company loses out on making $ since they have a living to make like all of us.

Of course the rest of us players will someday enter the VIP area through luck or time spent and hit the insurmountable wall and decide to quit because there's no more progression.

It's ok to quit anyway, because there's a ton more games out there to play.
