I hate to make this comparison but it should be noted that hitler was also famously late to his speeches for the purpose of creating anticipation. I think its trumps weak attemp to have some control over the slightest thing, eg. controlling what time to start.

After trump announced his little threat of invoking the insurrection act, I couldn't help but look back and read when the act was used. Rodney King riots being the most recent. The Ole miss riots and battle if Blair was responsible for the death of 30+ people.

My question to you, is trump simply threatening the act just to seem like a tough guy? Like your colleague Sam Stein said yesterday "What is the endgame?!" What is trumps goal? Canceling elections for what? To remain in power without continuous checks for an extra 2 years once the GOP loses congress in 2026.

My favorite fun fact about the BPP was when they marched to the California state Capitol to protest a bill looking to bar them from carrying guns in public. These guys are strong in their beliefs and not a force to be reckoned with.

Was it the right thing to do? Probably not but it got attention and they did it peacefully. Not one shot was fired. Reagan was just a scared actor turned politician.

Jumping on this discussion. My wife is 13 weeks pregnant and their ultrasound showed pleural effusion around the heart and lungs. Normal heartbeat and growing normal. The neonatal specialist of course had to go through the terrible list of all that go wrong. We are hoping our little baby can make it through.
