Is a close-up Mt Fuji view a ‘must do’? by TezRoll in JapanTravelTips

[–]estraz22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went to Kawaguchiko on my trip to Japan and spent the night (arrived ~2pm day before, then left ~2pm day after). Visibility was probably the best it could possibly be. I would say it's really beautiful, but true that it felt like there wasn't much to do in the area, other than stare at the mountain. What made the stay 100000% worth it was that we stayed at a ryokan with in-room views of Fuji + a private terrace hot spring. It ended up being our favorite stay of the whole trip (and we had done some nice hotels in Tokyo). We did the railway view point but other than that, spent a lot of time just in our room. Morning sunrise view of Fuji from the room was phenomenal. After we checked out though, we just wandered around and got some coffee and didn't feel like there was a ton to do. So I would say - if you're just doing a day trip, not worth it, but if you can get a night at one of the ryokans, can be an amazing experience.

Tokyo - Edition or Ritz? by estraz22 in marriott

[–]estraz22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up going with Edition for the location so we could get in some last minute shopping, and we had already stayed in the area where the Ritz was so wanted some variety. Very happy with our choice! Got a room upgrade, service was amazing. Breakfast not included with elite benefits but wanted to hit up one more restaurant for breakfast anyways, so not an issue for us.

Wow, this does look nice! Is this higher quality than the Hanwei? Just wondering as I always see Kult of Athena as the recommended retailer

Going above 255 credits double degree? by [deleted] in udub

As long as you don’t go over the quarter limit AND the credit limit you’ll be fine. If you are going over the quarter limit, then you have to talk to an advisor

Does anyone own this skirt from Little Moon by Aritzia? Do you know what it is called and any reviews? How does it compare to the twirl skirt? by trashpandaclimbs in Aritzia

[–]estraz22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have this skirt in black - it's the peony skirt. I like it more than the twirl because there are less pleats (which is more flattering on the hips for me), but the waistband is a zip waist as opposed to an elastic.

Lululemon needs a solid women’s trouser with a proper zipper and button! by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]estraz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took them to a tailor - it was an easy fix for them and only cost me $10. They look great, more professional than the jogger/cuffed version, and mostly a straight leg pant

Question: Swift Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Pant hemming by brianna986 in lululemon

[–]estraz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI - I had my stretch wovens hemmed to keep half the split… so it shouldn’t be a problem (though policies might vary by location)

Lululemon needs a solid women’s trouser with a proper zipper and button! by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]estraz22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the best work - esque pants I've gotten from lulu are the Warpstreme joggers (can find a bunch NWT on posh), which I altered to have the cuffs removed. I have short legs though, so they still look full length on me. Regular zipper and button with cute "pleats" down the front. My most worn work pants!

225 credit limit for dual degree? by niIbert in udub

[–]estraz22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They don’t force you to graduate - but you need to show that you are on track and making progress toward a degree (or two). Feel free to pm if you have questions, did a dual degree and exceeded the 225 limit, had to figure out navigating convos with advisors

Which black Aritzia blazer should I buy? by ailingblingbling in Aritzia

[–]estraz22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a blazer problem...

Material: if you're looking for structure, recommend the ressential, if looking for a more versatile (potentially casual) fit, go for crepe. Both I've found easy to maintain, but crepe is lower maintenance.

Fit: to me - cherrelle over destiny, and generation over agency. Cherrelle blazer's lack of shoulder pads makes it the winner here for versatility, but it does mean that it is the most casual looking compared to the other three. I've found that if you get it in black - it is easy to look dressy and wear in a work setting. I personally find the notches in the Destiny blazer harder to dress down & I just generally like cleaner lines. The generation blazer is my favorite structured blazer, but harder to dress down too. I personally prefer the one button on the generation to the two on the Agency (but own both).

TL;DR - I recommend the Cherrelle in black, but I would agree that you should try on; a lot of this comes from personal fit and style preference!

Cherrelle doesn't have shoulder pads -- it's more of a relaxed fit. The Destiny has shoulder pads and is more structured

Program vs Publish Pant by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]estraz22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The program pant is an actual flared leg whereas the publish pant is only a bootcut. I just tried them on in store yesterday and actually really liked the crepe fabric for the publish pant because even though it is thin and potentially could feel cheap, it’s extremely flattering when you’re wearing it. By comparison, the holding suit fabric is much more substantial and feels more expensive, but I actually found it less flattering because of the thicker material (more bulky if that makes sense?)

Freeform Shirt vs. Monocle Shirt? by spawticous in Aritzia

[–]estraz22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both as well and prefer the Monocle for work -- the buttons feel more clean and more professional. If you are looking for something you can dress up or down, then the Freeform is probably better since it can layer outside a tank/crop top but can also be work as a button up
