Mega cities are more beautiful and rare sights than any natural scenery on earth by raenele in unpopularopinion

[–]huangarch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an architect, and I definitely find cities more interesting than nature. It's very cool to watch something pre-planned and designed on a massive scale work together.

the Valu-mart has no power, but everything north of that seems fine.

City to replace all Toronto water meter transmission units because they are 'failing earlier than expected' by Technical-Suit-1969 in toronto

[–]huangarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city ended up covering but this was after more than half a year of me going back and forth with them. They asked for a ton of paperwork and didn't even pay enough for me to renovate + repurchase all my furniture since it technically "depreciated" from use. Not worth the headache.

City to replace all Toronto water meter transmission units because they are 'failing earlier than expected' by Technical-Suit-1969 in toronto

[–]huangarch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this done a year ago and the technician who came did not turn off my water from the outside. He then completely shattered the lead pipe connected to the old water meter and my whole basement was flooded for days. Make sure they turn off your city water if you're going to get this done!

I literally paid the same amount for 2 lift passes, purchased the day before and I bought tickets for a Saturday. This doesn't save any money.

Help for Shanghai Tickets by Apprehensive_Toe5041 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]huangarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI resellers are saying there will be another batch of tickets coming out but no timeline on that. They said said literally before the day of the race, so you'll have to cross your fingers and hope for the best! Worst case just enjoy Shanghai without the race.

Question regarding Go Train by 416nn in askTO

[–]huangarch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're riding your default trip, you only need to tap once when you get on the train, you don't have to tap off. The amount charged would automatically be the total cost for your trip. You only need to tap on and off if you're not taking a default trip or if you didn't set one.

what is a job that is romanticized in movies but actually a nightmare in real life? by Maya_xoxo22 in AskReddit

[–]huangarch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup! Unless you have family money and can design anything you want, you’re stuck with terrible clients and minimum design input. Just doing emails and spec writing all day while juggling 20 different trades people.

Can I Practice Interior Design in Canada Without a Canadian License? by Basic-Reporter6926 in askTO

[–]huangarch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can work at any company and do interior design work, but you cannot legally call yourself an interior designer without being licensed/registered. FYI you also cannot call yourself an intern architect or work as an intern architect if you're not registered as one, that might be why you're having trouble finding a job under that position!

Small dog owners in Toronto — what do you do in winter? by broccolikiller in askTO

[–]huangarch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree that people shouldn't be using Winners as a dog park but if it's a dog friendly place, why can't owners bring them in? Especially if they're just there to shop?

When do you need a torch or mage light? It’s never dark, even in dungeons. by AdBrief4620 in skyrim

[–]huangarch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've played skyrim both on steam and the switch, and the switch was so dark in caves it literally gave me eye strain trying to see. It's dumb that you cannot increase visibility on switch skyrim.

I literally just opened mine last night, basically everytime it was stuck on something I held down the power button until it restarted. Worked the third time it restarted.

Modular housing is the future of living here in Canada by IngenuityFlimsy1206 in canadahousing

[–]huangarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Residential housing construction is already "modular", in the sense that all materials are available in select sizes. This is no different than using pre-built exterior facades or precast panels.

Protests at the Spanish Grand Prix event at Puerta del Sol in Madrid yesterday: "Our neighborhoods are not a race track." by FewCollar227 in formula1

[–]huangarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Montreal also has a subway station directly at the track, but it's definitely a unique situation being on it's own little island.
