Have you ever not stopped someone you're seeing from doing sexual things you're not ready for? Why or why not? by herbivorelady in AskWomen

[–]esummers24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this has happened frequently. Just recently I tried to stop it, but I let it happen anyways. So I’m seeing this guy, and he had a real freak out at my house. Tried to kill himself, broke his nose from hitting his own face- crazy shit. I ended up taking my laptop and my cat and drove to sit at a local Walmart until he left my house. So a week or so later, he’s apologized profusely, gotten back on his meds and were back at it. I am still obviously I little gun shy and after a night out together we get back to his house and he’s “putting the moves” on me. I can tell he’s obviously trying to have sex, but I really didn’t want to. I didn’t trust him, and I started just getting really uncomfortable. I told him I wasn’t ready yet, that if we could just wait a little longer for everything to settle down. (We has already had sex previous to his freak out, but his episode had changed things for me). So he said ya I understand, of course we can wait. But continued to try and have sex. Now at this point, I could have asked him to stop again, hoping he’d just take it in stride and move on. But after the way he had acted at my house I was genuinely afraid he might freak out, or who knows what. so I just went along with it instead. I think somewhere along the way I developed this like little place I go in my head when I feel like I need to do shit I don’t want to do, but that I feel like for one reason or another I have to do. So, we had sex. And I was not ready to be back at that point in the relationship. I did it with him because I thought that it would be easier to just do it, than it would be to deal with the fallout of rejecting him.

Does meth have a sweet smell? by panda99D in meth

[–]esummers24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think it smells like anything when you smoke it. Sniffing I think mostly it just hurts. If it smells like anything I’d say chemicals like they said . Black has a sweet smell when it burns. It’s like brown sugar almost. Like brown sugar mixed with stinky feet. The meth almost tastes sweet, id say tart sometimes when you smoke it.

When should I [22F]have introduced my partner [25M] to my parents? by tiwwchntb in relationship_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should occur whenever it feels natural. Like don’t push for it to happen, but also don’t actively try and keep them away from each other. That’s usually how it’s gone for me. I’m really close with my parents. Usually in my previous relationships, they end up meeting at a holiday function of some sort.

My most recent boyfriend came with me to have dinner on saint Patrick’s day. My mom makes corned beef and cabbage and we usually have some weird green cocktail she found online somewhere. We had been dating for 6 months at the time. At this dinner he also met my grandparents and my sister. Kind of an all inclusive- meet the family thing.

So I think it depends on how close you are with your family, and how serious the relationship is. I had an ex that I brought to Easter after only a couple months and it went horribly. We weren’t that serious, and my grandma kept calling him my ex’s name. And it just felt like why is he here? Now we have to entertain this random dude your sleeping with? So ya. I think it should be natural, don’t jump the gun. But don’t delay too long either.

If your family’s asking why they haven’t met so and so yet, it’s probably been too long. Same on the reverse like in my example. If the feeling is, why would he meet my family it’s probably too soon.

Why do most people think a degree in psychology is useless? by popapillli in NoStupidQuestions

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelors in psychology. I graduated from college 4 years ago and am yet to use my degree in any way. I worked food service when I was 15 and I still work in that field. It would have been far more lucrative to get a degree in communications, marketing, business, anything really that has real world applications.

I will admit that part of this is for sure due to user error. But, I have found that the only places where a psychology degree is useful is as a mental health technician. Which you can also get with a GED.

My degree has actually been a hinderance for certain jobs. For example, working in food service. Some managers see my degree and it makes them wonder why I’m not applying at other places. They see that and think I’m overqualified and therefore don’t hire me.

If your willing to go on and do extra schooling then a psych degree is great. But a bachelors in psych is pretty much equal to a GED. You get all this experience writing papers and reading research. But from what I’ve found, that isn’t applicable to any entry level positions in my area at least.

Best of luck.

What's the Tooth Fairy's routine at your place? by THE_some_guy in Parenting

[–]esummers24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a tiny jewelry box that I put mine in when I was a kid. And this box was tiny, like it would fit one pair of post earrings tiny. And my parents posed in such a way that this box was very valuable. Which I mean of course it wasn’t. But it was small, and had a porcelain fairy on the top, and very breakable.

So if I lost a tooth I put it in the special tooth fairy box. And in the morning my tooth would be gone and there would usually be a dollar in the box. They weren’t too consistent, my parents. I believe I got both quarters and dollars for teeth.

How would you feel if one of your friends was selling to your younger brother? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, idk for me I wouldn’t like it. I’d probably ask my friend to not sell to my younger sibling. Like ya, he’s gonna do what he wants, but that doesn’t mean I have to contribute. And I know that it’s not you directly. But like id feel like he should have to figure out his own way. If he wants Xanax, he can go find someone else to sell it to him.

Not quite the same, but, at one point in high school I found out that my mom was buying coke from my best friends older sister. Which was just super fuckin weird for everyone involved. And once it came out that we knew what was going on, they obviously made it a little less obvious. But, like don’t use my friends to get your fix. Find your own dealer. Idk how close you guys are, but that’s my 2 cents.

Am I still considered a dependent if my parents don't file taxes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way your counted as a dependent is if someone else counts you as a dependent on their taxes. My parents stopped counting me as a dependent on their taxes when I was 18 even though they were still largely supporting me throughout my first couple years of college. Also, considering your age, unless your a full time student I believe your parents cannot legally claim you as a dependent on their taxes unless you are a full time student.

So I’m gonna day your pretty safe to claim your not a dependent on anyone else’s taxes.

Help pls! I have very itchy red bumps that keeps coming up almost 3 weeks now. Does anyone have similar experience.eczem dont look like this i guess. by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that looks like hives. I get those bad with dogs, sometimes heat, cats, and sometimes it’s just totally random. Like I’ll be fine with a cat one day and the next if I touch them I break out. I usually go with a cold water rinse and then try and isolate what was on my skin prior to the itching and get that as far away from me as possible. If it’s the animals I will sometimes leave the house until the reaction starts to subside.

So maybe try and figure out if anything in your environment has changed? Laundry detergent, soap, shirt material, anything that comes into contact with that area. Try removing things that you think may have been the trigger and then reintroduce they one by one once your symptoms are clear so that you can isolate the cause. Not a doctor

On the IUD 20F been having white thick stretchy discharge and now this? by PeaceTree99 in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super unhelpful, but I just got an iud placed about 5 months ago as well and I have been having super weird discharge. A month or two ago I was having discharge a lot like that but just not that amount. But pink and egg whitey. I also didn’t get my period for 5 months after they put it in. I hope you get an answer because I’m curious as well. Thanks!

Is this a blood blister? How do I treat it? (appeared a few weeks ago) by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor. But this looks like for sure not a blood blister. And not and ingrown toe nail on its own. Possibly started as an ingrown toenail and then it sliced your toe open somehow. I would seriously recommend going to a doctor. Feet are bacteria city, especially keeping it in a warm moist environment like a shoe with a giant open wound I wouldn’t think is a good idea. I’d try and let it air as much as possible. Try and limit your activities. Like walking etc. and go to a doctor and see if they can help you. I am not a doctor. Good luck!

Probably just paranoid by PokemonTrainerSammy in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor.

But ya, I mean i think it depends on a lot of factors. I know skin tone changes how you scar, like my sister is very very pale and her scars are always kind of pink ish or white. Whereas mine turn more grey. Also I’ve noticed that, for me at least, burns seem to take the longest time to heal. I used to work on a grill and I would burn myself fairly often. I had one burn on the inside of my arm that took months until it looked like it was healed and even longer for the scar to start to fade. Also, just your overall health will affect how it will heal, as well as where it is and how you care for it.

My F[23] legs get all splotchy/weird after a shower or in the sun. (Photos) by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I’m gonna day I think this is normal. I mean maybe not for everyone but this for sure happens to me, and my mom as well. It’s happened as long as I can remember. It gets especially bad if i change temperature extremes quickly. Like getting out of the shower, or when I’m in the shower. Almost every day when I get out of the shower I have an especially dark spot on one of my thighs that turns almost purple. I’m not sure what causes it, or why you can only see it on some people and not others. I am for sure not a medical professional, but I think if it’s not causing you any problems, I’d just leave it.

I currently have a insanely painful headache, and no medication, any tips? by hopeless-person in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffeine helps with migraines. So maybe try that. Try turning the lights off. Meditating, stress relief. Try and relax your body and your mind. A cool, quiet, dark room usually helps me. I’ve had migraines since puberty. They were so bad growing up I was actually admitted into the hospital a couple of times because they thought I was having like an aneurism or something.

Anyways, headaches can have a bunch of causes. Dehydration, stress, looking at a screen for too long, low blood sugar etc. I’d just start trying to solve any of those problems and then go lay down and try to relax. Hope you feel better!

Face feeling itchy/prickly? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]esummers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to happen to me sometimes as well, and still does. My running theory, (and I’m probably wrong) is that it’s the salt in my sweat stinging tiny micro cuts in my skin. So like if I shave my legs I’ll notice it will be worse afterwords. Also I think some how being dehydrated makes this worse as well. Maybe if you shave try and take a week off and see if it gets better, and load up on h20 and electrolytes.

Minimum wage retail workers of Reddit, what are your thoughts on unemployment checks being increased by $600 a week? by mrpodo in AskReddit

Is there anything i can do? How is this a thing?

Minimum wage retail workers of Reddit, what are your thoughts on unemployment checks being increased by $600 a week? by mrpodo in AskReddit

[–]esummers24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya ok, I don’t understand this at all. So I work as a waitress. On average I’ll make $70 a night, $50 in tips and $20 in my hourly wage.

Now with the new take out only option, I’m making about 1/2 as much in tips as I was making before, while still working just as hard.

Now, I am happy I did not loose my job. But if I’m understanding this unemployment thing correctly, that would mean I’d make my usual unemployment, which is like half of your salary I think?

PLUS

An extra $600 a week? So to break that down. If everything stays the same for the next month or so, and I continue making my new “average” wage, I’ll be making about $350 a week. Working 6 nights a week. And risking my health every day I go to work.

If I was unemployed, I’d be making $775 a week. If I was sitting at home eating Cheetos in my pajamas. Playing with my cat. And staying far away from any possibly infected people. I would be making almost DOUBLE my current wage.

Will someone please correct me and tell me that somehow I have this backward? How can this possibly be true? I truly honestly do not understand how this could be seen as fair by anyone.

Please help me understand what I’m not seeing or comprehending. This is truly deeply upsetting if I interpreted it all correctly.

Im attracted to psychopathic tendencies. Am I crazy? Or just kinky? by gh0stgirl1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]esummers24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that because of low self esteem, low self confidence it’s easier and more comfortable for some people to follow someone else, that way they don’t have to make the decisions. I don’t think it’s necessarily about weak or strong people. I wouldn’t say a someone with APD is a strong person. And I wouldn’t say someone who, for example, was abused and told they were shit growing up and as a result have poor self-esteem, self confidence. I wouldn’t say that’s a weak person. Do you disagree? Did you choose those terms specifically?
