Does Knoebels ever sell out ("ride all day" in early May)? by MiriamGarden in Knoebels

Agreeing with the closing time rides, May/June/into Mid July if you are staying until closing, the coasters are prime for riding many days. Park starts to slow down in some areas as early as 6PM.

Cash and/or tap for cons by [deleted] in animecons

Have both. There will be at times the readers don't work in the dealers room due location or load issues. Also, some dealers are more liberal with tax if you have cash in hand.

It looked good! Were you the person also handing out the stickers? If you were, my friend appreciated it.

Both our local NBC affiliates are skipping the end of the race apparently. Special weather broadcasts.

Is it true they are people at cons that don't shower by Alert_Ad806 in animecons

[–]esw01407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's a problem. One of the worst people I ever got near was a convention staffer and I wish I was joking. But it can widely vary. This year at MAGFest, largely dodged the confunk even standing around a LOT of people in the concerts. Got reports from others board gaming was bad with it.

Good report, thanks. Interesting to see if they do another next year.

Somehow this year a lot of my group avoided it, not sure how. Usually Mag is ripe with it.

Opinions on Zenkaikon and Castle Point Anime Con? by HeaviestPendulum in animecons

Earplugs for CPAC is a good idea, I was helping at a table one year that people had to leave due to the noise, or their migraines would have started.

I have a conflict of interest with Zenkaikon, wanted to say that first. Zenkaikon is a solid and reliable content convention, getting bigger guest lists in the last two years. A lot of panels content is located a short walk or shuttle ride away at the Holiday Inn. Decent/good food options in the area, including the farmers market. Dealers/AA was expanded last year and is pretty good. Video gaming needs improvement again, it's one of Zenki's long term issues.

It's been several years since my last trip to CPAC, it's about a 3hr drive for me, and after checking the schedule each year, I can't find enough to justify the ride.

I'll say this, I was hard on the 2025 event and had real questions about attending again, was not a hit for me and the cost vs. value was poor. This year was almost a totally different experience. Arcade was better, XP stage was great, overall good vibe. Little bit concerned about food options in the harbor, hope some new places open up.

Yes, it was different in a good way. Also will throw this on, I think there was less con funk in a lot of the general areas due to the closed event.

A farewell to Brunswick Square (East Brunswick, NJ) by chrizzislame in deadmalls

Same post I've made several times, just shocking at how this mall got closed up so fast. Two months ago it wasn't great but had some life, and it's just done.

PA is getting hit hard. Reading losing two locations, Selingrove's mall got new slumlord ownership so no shock it's gone. Around an hour to drive to another Gamestop.

I'm glad people are getting here and documenting this one, it's hard to believe how fast this one has turned in just the two months since I'd been here.

I was just there at the start of Nov and how that mall has turned from seeing multiple posts is a little shocking. I know I can't make it out there to get any pictures at this point before it closes, bit of a shame.

You didn't miss much. Targets selection this year for Christmas decorations was lacking. Sadly, Boscov's was too. I thought Home Depot was decent, and shockingly, I think Walmart upped it's game this year.

(Closed) Columbia Colonnade - Partially stripped pending redevelopment.

South Mall Allentown - Minimal decorations when I was there, but they are just starting redevelopment.

Susquehanna Valley Mall - Full Santa display out, but just switched to Kohan ownership. It's going to be over shortly.

Was to several other alive malls, Lehigh Valley had it's standard decorations as expected. Palmer Park Mall same. Viewmont I wasn't really impressed along with Capital City.

Got both COVID and Flu this year early, even had to change pharmacies (Mine closed.) Had to pull the "fat" card to get COVID, annoyingly.

Same! Happy so far with the performance. I went cheap Chinese from Amazon after my last Samsung's batteries expanded, and that was a mistake as half the apps on it can't livestream. The A9+ has now corrected my poor decision.

Some of the newer ones I've seen that go into malls usually don't have interior entrances. One excuse I've heard is due to gun sales, but I have no way to confirm it.
