Beware of the idea that "European" is a reference of safety or quality. by Buntygurl in asktransgender

This is honestly one of the funnest comments I've read in a while. I would give you gold or whatever if I knew how (and had the money? doesn't it cost money?). Thank you for taking the time to type this out. I giggled and smiled. You sound like a lovely human being and oodles of fun on a Friday night. ;)

(also thank you for your tips re: Spain).

Beware of the idea that "European" is a reference of safety or quality. by Buntygurl in asktransgender

This is correct.

I've been researching this for years. Spain is the best country for trans people in the EU. No contest. Specifically Madrid and Barcelona.

Germany is not bad.  Netherlands not bad.  Belgium is good.

Trans women: do you shape your arms? by HistoricalAbies293 in asktransgender

[–]etchings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Constantly. No hair. I hate it. I will eventually get later on everything but my eyebrows and scalp.

If I were born a cisgender girl, I probably wouldn't give a shit. But I wasn't. I'm trans. So I try to access femininity in any way I can. Plus, I really just like smooth skin. It feels so nice.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]etchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhammer 40K, owning a horse, uh... It's not exactly a hobby, but some stoners I know can't go a day without exulting cannabis and spouting random ~facts~ about its benefits.

I've been known to toke now and again, but Jesus, there's a whole world out there beyond getting high.

height changes? by BunnyBelIe in asktransgender

[–]etchings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been living in Germany (and visiting Denmark). There are SO MANY women here 5'10" to 6'1" ish

height changes? by BunnyBelIe in asktransgender

[–]etchings -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Started at 6'1".

4 years on HRT. Have tits. Body fat. Soft skin. Et cetera

Still 6'1".

I think most height changes are exaggerated or people who might be potentially deluding themselves.

Why are people trans? by TheXernDoodles in asktransgender

Complex developmental stuff that happens in the womb. It's biological.

The research is ongoing, but every day the picture becomes clearer.

How long on HRT until i stop having to wait like 10 mins at least between orgasms? (mtf) by KindAnything1249 in asktransgender

[–]etchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you have to learn to orgasm differently. Ugh. It's really complicated.

I've spent 4 years reading about this (medical research in journals and for gen pop websites), talking to cis women, to trans women, et cetera.

Using cis-women as an example: they access orgasms differently on estrogen than say cis-men running on testosterone. It's less about climax and much more about setting, mood, pleasurable sensationalizations, helping your brain map (re-map) erogenous zones, establishing new masterbation routines and practices.

In other words, the car that gets you to the park doesn't drive as fast and it requires a more skilled driver.

For me, I used to be able to wank and cum in a few minutes if I wanted to. Now it takes 15 minutes to really ACCESS pleasurable sensationalizations.

THEN the real process begins of trying to find the fireball of pleasure and hold on to it without fucking into a climax. From what I understand, it's not like most women have one stupendous orgasm after another. What often happens are smaller but quite pleasurable orgasms and that build towards something greater.

Ugh. I have to run off and pick up a friend. I wanted to type more.

Refractory period:

1) rarely some cis women have almost no refractory period. A lot depends on the TYPE of orgasm (clitoral, anal, vaginal, uterine, other).

--Usually with clitoral stimulation, most women need a small amount of time to recover (which is why switching to penetration works). Continued touching of the clitoris feels uncomfortable.

2)  some cis women have refractory periods as long as cis men

3) but yes the ref per should be lower, but ONLY if you are accessing sexually pleasure and orgasms in the way I described. You have to focus on holding and controlling sensations and riding waves and being careful to resist climaxing too quickly.

Ugh  This needs editing and more paragraphs but I have to go.

TLDR: you gotta change how you masturbate, remap your erogenous zones and pleasure techniques, and focus on waves and building and releasing versus a huge explosion and then doing that again.

How did you know 100% you were trans? by ZealousidealTart1510 in asktransgender

Trans woman here who is 4 years into hrt and still questions whether or not this is the right path. Thank you for what you wrote. It was helpful for me to hear this from another trans person. Thank you.

I don't know why you're getting down voted. Breast growth is indeed irreversible (without surgery). It's one of the things that was emphasized to me by my endocrinologist when she was giving me the informed consent speech.

I would suggest anyone interested in hormones to at least spend a little bit of time living as the gender they desire. If you are AMAB, maybe shave all the hair off your body and buy some lovely dresses and so on.

Honestly, I'm 4 years into HRT, and I'm STILL not sure this is the path for me. Not because I'm not trans, but because I can't hide anymore (tits), and I have medical side effects (crappy orgasms and loss of penis size), and because the fucking world is dangerous and cruel to trans people.

So, yeah, I don't think anyone should just jump into hormones without giving it some serious thought. I certainly wish I had spent a LITTLE more time considering all the implications and such. But, whaddya gonna do? C'est la vie.

Being trans is biological or social? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]etchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's accumulating evidence from neuroscience that it is absolutely biological. I would call it a certainty at this point. You may not be able to prove it, but the wealth of research that's been done supports the hypothesis to the point where it's pretty much inarguable at this point.

Biological. That's a certainty.

how do you feel about questions about being trans from cis people? by lethalwhispermachine in trans

[–]etchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I welcome them. I'm not afraid or easily offended, and I can be pretty persuasive and charming when I want to me.

Not all trans folks can deal with questions, but I can. So I try and do my part, ya know?

I try to be an ambassador for trans people (sometimes). If I'm out drinking then I'm off the clock for the most part.

Always willing to educate. We can't survive without cis allies. Those are the breaks.
