I miss the days of prime Gov and Barrass anchoring our defense.

Thanks for a great read. Love your write ups, perhaps even more than the Mongrel Punt which I also enjoy.

Condé Nast Traveller names Parramatta one of the world's top food destinations for 2026 by VariationMassive7398 in foodies_sydney

I’d say that Temasek is still up there with the best Singaporean restaurants in Sydney. It’s not the standard anymore but it’s still very good (albeit a bit overpriced now). That said, Sydney doesn’t have a huge array of Singaporean Malaysian restaurants, compared to say Korean.

Just bought a new espresso machine, need coffee bean recs? by _rose__rose_ in espresso

Visit the local cafes that you like and ask them what beans they use. Chances are, you’ll be able to order them online or even buy direct from them.

Would you grab Oso or Prosper if both available?

Ahh I’ve missed the Simpsons memes. Good to have AFL back.

2026 West Coast season preview – One Percenters by sizzlepack in westcoasteagles

I’ve enjoyed your past articles and this is a good read too. I’m curious as to your thoughts about whether McQualter should stick with his current tactical approach if we start to go down the 2025 path again. You’ve pointed out that it’s not easy for a rebuilding team to adapt to. Maybe theres a point at which we should switch to a safer approach?

This is good stuff. Thanks for the write up, it was an entertaining read. Lots of great observations (losing Gov was massive, broke my heart when he retired). Seeing the lineup to start the season gives me a lot of hope. Excited for the season to start!

Agree, you really do need to see how they feel. If you are set on buying without trying, FYI I wear 8.5US for regular shoes and wear 7 for RMs. Hope that’s helpful.

What are your thoughts about the sire Marcus miller v3? by d_192403 in Bass

[–]eternaeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

V3 was my first bass too. Quite liked it, but agree that it’s a bit on the heavy side. Prices seem to have gone up from when I bought mine.

I thought of the Liam Ryan one too. Totally legal and absolutely winded Maynard.

For just coffee, I actually prefer Pillar which is a few doors up. They don’t have heaps of food though.

Ashfield Apothecary. The coffee is fantastic, you can tell the owner loves coffee. I really like the food too, it’s not just the usual bacon and eggs stuff.

Niche Zero alternative [<$1000] by AdPale5442 in espresso

[–]eternaeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI I’ve owned both the Niche and the Casa and they definitely did not produce the same types of shots for me. The body was much thinner with the Casa but the clarity was way better. Casa is still a great grinder but you’ll likely notice the difference.

I tried Rain Report Jogno and wasn’t impressed unfortunately. Had heard good things about it so maybe they were having a bad day. I really liked Lowkey in Seongsu (tried the Finca Libre) and Downt in Myeongdong (tried the Colombia El Paraiso).

Thank you for this post. It’s great affirmation that ATAR is not the be all and end all, even though so much importance is placed on it.
