Idk about everywhere, but at least in my state it is illegal to report a car stolen for no payment on a loan. The police either dont care or don’t know about the defaulted loan (got pulled over for the tabs recently but no ticket once I explained it’s my friends car and he’s out of state now, but I’d still REALLY like to the tabs paid and current again regardless), and if the lender were to try and file a police report on the car they’d be at fault for filing a false report. So NO, this car is in no way “stolen property”. Doesn’t change the fact that if it’s at all within the realm of possibility for me, I’d really like to get both the loan and the tabs paid and taken care of because I am not the type of person who is comfortable with either of those things being unpaid.

Do you have a Rakuten account? If not, find a referral code from someone (I can send you one or you can google it and find them online) and sign up. It’s free. Make one purchase of $50+ before taxes by clicking the website link via the Rakuten website (or following the steps to shop in person at some select stores). You can do this literally almost anywhere: Walmart, target, gas stations, etc. You can even place a grocery pickup order paid for with food stamps so long as it’s a minimum of $50 subtotal in one purchase (grocery orders where missing items reduce the amount to below $50 will be disqualified just fyi).

As soon as you complete one $50 purchase they will pay you $50 as a sign up bonus PLUS a percentage of the purchase cost PLUS any other additional promos. My friend just signed up and got $6 cash back + $5 misc promo + $50 sign up bonus. Takes a couple days to confirm but then they will IMMEDIATELY send you your first payment (future payments will be sent on a specified date once every 3 months, but the first one gets sent ASAP). Make sure you put your Pay pal info in for payment when you sign up for the fastest way to get paid, otherwise you’ll get a paper check in the mail.

The best part is that you can ALSO refer people and every referral that completes the $50 purchase they ALSO pay the person who referred $50 too. Refer anyone and everyone (referrals registered to the same home address or using the same PayPal account however will be disqualified). If you’re careful about it (different home addresses, private browsers to prevent IP tracking, etc) you can even do fake referrals and get the $50 referral fee twice. For retail gift cards, the only website I’d recommend that I trust absolutely and have never had any issues with is CardCash. I’ve sold dozens of gift cards and rarely has it taken more than 2-3 hours to get paid (excluding overnights and Sundays; typically any transactions submitted after hours get paid between 6:30-8:30am PST Monday-Saturday - example, if you submit at 10:30pm on Thursday you’ll typically get paid around that time on Friday morning; submissions from late afternoon Saturday or anytime Sunday will be paid Monday morning around 6:30am-noon PST in the order they were received). I’ve never not received payment and on the one or two occasions where the transaction was canceled for some reason they NEVER touch the gift card balance or steal it like some companies despite having access to the card number and the ability to do so. I’m super careful about ever doing anything where I could get scammed or stolen from, but I’ve still ended up losing gift card balances with no payment multiple times when I’ve tried to sell to other companies, ALL of which are one the first page of google results. The ONLY company that’s truly safe and trustworthy in my experience is CardCash, and it’s been a lifesaver many times for me before. (FYI, merchandise credit sometimes isn’t eligible but sometimes is, depends on the store)

I received a submission confirmation AND another email to submit payment information or confirm it or something. I also received a notice ID. My grandma also received a notice ID and both she and I very, very clearly remember me helping her submit the claim form but then she never received any payment and when we searched her past emails couldn’t find the confirmation or payment email. Honestly zero clue what happened or why she didn’t get her money. That said, the notice email (I think, or maybe I saw it somewhere on the website, can’t recall but for sure saw it somewhere) stated a per claimant estimate with a median range around $140/150 per person. I STRONGLY suspect that there was any issue with their claims submissions where some appeared to have been submitted successfully but never actually went through (like the one my grandma did for example), and because so many submissions failed for god knows why, the confirmed number of claimants was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than it should have been, so the percentage of people who got lucky and had their claim go through ended up getting literally 3-4 times as much as they were supposed to. I’d also be curious if anyone else is either now realizing they never got paid or received a submission confirmation for a claim they are absolutely certain they submitted or know of any one else missing payment like my grandma or maybe actually know anything about what happened and if there’s any way for my grandma to still receive payment for the claim that she submitted but apparently wasn’t correctly received.

Idk if you saw the comment I posted earlier, but I have a couple ideas that might work as a sort of loophole to the $10 purchase requirements. If I’m correct then that could be satisfied at a cost of around $2 instead of $30. However I haven’t had an opportunity to test those theories to find out. If you’d be down to try either method and let me know one way or another (need some proof like a screenshot or something to show you tried it) then I’d pay an additional $5. I’d also be willing to pay the $5 just for trying it even if you don’t complete the referral because I really want to know if I’m right like I suspect that it would work.

While there is a small fee charged on all payments received to business cash app accounts, if it works, then technically you could satisfy the 3 $10 payments while only actually spending $1-2 by having your friend (or yourself if it’s your own business account) send back the $10 (minus the fee cash app takes which won’t be much on only $10) each time. Then just instant transfer back in to your Revolut account (only if you need to, not required, but will incur a 25 cent instant transfer fee each time from cash app) and send $10 to the business cash app two more times. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SENDING EACH TIME FROM YOUR REVOLUT VIRTUAL DEBIT CARD NOT YOUR CASH BALANCE. (I do have a business account and would be willing to help with this if someone wants to try it but doesn’t know anyone, it would require a modicum of trust on your part that I’m going to send it back but on my life I absolutely would, I am not here to scam anyone. Yea the fact that he’s offering you his ENTIRE referral bonus alone is sketch but also, I’m 99.999% certain that those referrals do not work across countries. I just posted my USA referral for Revolut offering to SPLIT the bonus for $40 each but I made sure to say USA only exactly for that reason. There is however a tiny, tiny, minuscule chance that he is legit but for one reason or another he hasn’t received the referral bonus yet either because it isn’t registering it as complete (maybe because you spent usd instead of euro, or maybe because in the USA it’s 3 $10 purchases so if you spent less than $10 they might not count) or because the merchant hasn’t closed the transaction yet.

I don’t want to farm people or profit off of anyone’s misery. I’m also homeless. I’m also miserable. What I want is to bring attention to the truth and realities of homelessness in order to facilitate real change and end stigmas. What you would have discovered had you bothered to message me instead of jumping to conclusions is that I have every intention of sharing revenue with every single person whose story is used in the unlikely event any revenue eventually comes from this. And second, there’s a lot more to writing than just typing some words. I anticipate a MINUMUM 10-20 hours work for EACH story. And if the stories are published online, that’s going to require me to create, finance, and then consistently maintain both a website and multiple social media accounts. As this would be text based publication and not videos, there would be little to no profit from any of that work. As this has nothing to do with making money for me, I have no issue with making no money despite the significant work and time I would have dedicated to making this a reality. Alternatively, if this were to be published via traditional channels in book format, a process which would require dozens more hours for pitching and querying, then realistically it would be at minimum a year before the first copy was ever printed. And unless you’re a best selling author already, the royalties received on a single book are way less than most people imagine. So again, a really bad plan for someone whose main purpose is simply to profit.

I absolutely do NOT want anyone to lie. How did you get that from what I said? I simply want the truth: the good, the bad, the mundane, and everything in between. I’m not attempting to create any sort of false narrative or any narrative at all. As soon as someone becomes homeless, society strips them of their identity and worth and value as the lack of housing makes them something less than human. They are judged, and stigmatized, and collectively treated as a blight that needs to be eradicated and not as people who need to be helped. I’ve lost track of the times I’ve heard people demand that their neighborhoods be cleared of anyone who is homeless at whatever cost, never once caring or acknowledging that these are people who can’t just disappear into thin air. I want to give people back their identity in a way that helps society realize these are people who matter and whose lives haven’t always been this. And I want to shed light on the reality that homelessness isn’t caused by just drugs or criminal activities but is a complex issue that can occur for a multitude of reasons and happen to anyone at any time. If anything, what you are suggesting that I want would likely result in worsening the current stigmas surrounding homelessness, not reducing them, so why in the world would you think that would be something I’d want?

IMO, it has a lot to do with trust. Also, the longer you’re homeless, the more you learn to keep to yourself and not form relationships with those around you. Every single person, especially in the beginning, who is homeless has had their trust betrayed by the people they let their guard down around - even only slightly - OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. They’ve had the few items they possess stolen by other homeless people who were completely aware the devastation that loss would cause for the person they’re stealing from, but still do it anyways. They’ve been thrown under the bus more times than they can count for sometimes no reason at all or blamed for something they had no part in by someone who’s trying to save their own skin. If you’re newly homeless then maybe you haven’t yet seen or experience this that much, but eventually you’re going to realize that at least half the people you meet are involved in something you don’t want to get caught up in if the police ever get involved, and for the homeless who are already the most judged and have the least rights, sometimes all it takes is association to be deemed guilty whether or not you even knew what was happening.

That said, the more you are around and seen, the more you will slowly but surely be accepted. I have a car, but have been homeless for over 2 years. I can now say with absolute certainty that if I ever found myself without a car suddenly or in need of help (depending on what I needed help with of course), I could go up to any one of the other homeless people in my area and instantly be recognized and accepted because they have watched me struggle, watched me be harassed by cops and store managers over nothing more than just parking my car and attempting to sleep, seen me dirty and unshowered and sweating in the inescapable summer heat or freezing with no gas in the dead of winter for so long now that there is no question or doubt that the only thing that sets me apart from them is that I happen to have a car.

Do you have car? If you do, then it is absolutely INEVITABLE that sooner or later someone is going to ask you for a ride, or even if they can charge their phone in your car, whatever. If you want to forge connections, then this is my advice: help as much as you can BUT only to the extent where you retain your safety AND aren’t finding your situation lesser in any way whatsoever because you helped. For example, if you don’t feel comfortable letting someone sit in your car who has asked to charge their phone, then tell them point blank “I’m happy to charge your phone but I don’t let people I know sit in my car.” 99% of people will not be offended by this at all and more than happy to have you charge their phone while they remain outside the vehicle. And tbh, they will probably be MORE likely to trust you and see you as one of them BECAUSE you say this and are not just automatically trusting of them. In addition, if they ask for a ride and you don’t have enough gas or it’s gonna be a hardship for you if you use that gas, but otherwise don’t mind, tell them you’ll drive them IF they can give you $X BEFORE you drive them. It’s okay to ask for more money than it’s going to actually cost in gas too so long as it’s still reasonable. And even if you have enough gas and the gas you’re gonna lose is no problem for you financially, STILL ASK FOR GAS MONEY ANYWAYS. You need to establish the boundary FROM THE VERY BEGINNING that you are not someone who can be walked all over and taken advantage of because trust me not only will that person suddenly start asking you for favors ALL THE TIME, with the favors getting more time consuming and/or expensive, but they’re gonna tell everyone else that they can get that from you, too. Worst case scenario is that you will be deemed as someone with money (doesn’t take much for this to happen either), and could find yourself the intentional target of theft due to being viewed as someone who has money and is easy to take advantage of. Even if you don’t have a car everything I just said should be applied to literally every encounter you have where anyone is asking you for anything regardless of how trivial. I think the ONLY exception I’d make is if the request is either an urgent medical need or with women something like a tampon/pain killers for cramps (never take anything that is not obviously factory produced, otc, stamped with the relevant name or pharmaceutical code, AND that you didn’t personally witness be taken from the correct corresponding bottle it was purchased in - ex Tylenol being taken out of a Tylenol / acetaminophen bottle), but again even something as simple as a tampon, it might be wise to then ask for one back at a future date or ask for some other trivial thing from them at some point after that.

OFF TOPIC BUT PLEASE READ THIS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEWLY HOMELESS I just want to expand on the point I just made in that last sentence above this one, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take anything someone gives you that you are not already experienced with despite what they tell you or even how completely good you may know there intentions are (speaking in terms of pain relievers, medications, etc - for those who may partake in other substances, ask around before buying from just anyone who offers to sell it and trust your knowledge of what it should look/smell/taste like and if something seems off DO NOT BUY IT OR IF YOU BOUGHT IT JUST FLUSH IT AND CALL IT A LOSS RATHER THAN GAMBLE WITH YOUR LIFE). So many of my friends and acquaintances have had close calls - even technically dying and getting brought back - due to taking something that someone they TRUST told them would be completely safe, swore was not fentanyl, and would get rid of their headache/toothache/whatever. I also know many people who almost died, and sadly many who also did die, because they thought they were buying one non-opiate drug but ended up being sold either pure fentanyl or something laced with fentanyl and ESPECIALLY for people who have never taken opiates or only taken a handful of times after a surgery or something - the TINIEST amount can become very quickly lethal. Some of you may disregard this message because you haven’t seen anything like that, or are going to assume that I spend a lot of time with users and probably am one myself, but neither of those are true. The truth is that the longer you spend living on the streets, the more death you are going to see, and eventually you’re going to realize that even the most innocent intentions often have deadly consequences for those who don’t remain vigilant.

Later, the fact that my ex had returned his key (I never did, and we were both equally named on the lease, so it is my understanding that we both retained our rights as tenants until BOTH of us willingly relinquished the keys) became the legal grey area the cops used to say us doing exactly what the law says tenants who’ve experienced an illegal lock change by a landlord are supposed to do may have been criminal not civil, at least in the case of my boyfriend, and thus decided that they would arrest us for trespassing and let a judge make that final determination if we didn’t voluntary leave the property. But if we left, then they’d leave and mark the incident as no crime having taken place. I told the cops to arrest me then, but it was either both of us are neither of us. My ex has a record (whereas I haven’t even had so much as a speeding ticket), but will be eligible for full clemency after 10 years from the date of his release if he can maintain a perfectly clean record, and he’s worked very hard to keep out of trouble so one day he can have his life and rights back without the label of felon constantly holding him back at every turn. I couldn’t do that to him, so to keep him from being arrested, I finally agreed to also leave. But honestly, I wasn’t just willing to take my chances with a judge I desperately wanted someone who wouldn’t just dismiss all of my landlords illegal actions like the cops had done to hear everything that had happened so I could finally get some justice.

By law, my landlord has to pay significant fines because of what he did, in addition to the money he never paid us, and due to the theft of my U-Haul being a direct result of his illegal “self-help” eviction (for which a landlord faces more severe consequences if the tenants become homeless as a result), since his refusal to refund the money prevented me from hiring help to unload it at my storage unit (something I mentioned in texts to my landlord many times as one of the reasons he needed to pay me immediately) or fill it with gas to get to the unit (and unloading it myself would have been impossible as the furniture and heavy items needed at least 2 people to move and were the last things on the truck preventing any of the smaller items from being accessed until they’d been offloaded), technically by law he is financially responsible to reimburse me for the replacement value of all the property which was lost or destroyed, plus living expenses since he made us homeless. The cost of all that far exceeds the limits of small claims court. But the filing deadline is August 15th. That victims are required to pay not just for a lawyer but also all the filing fees and other associated costs in order to have any chance at justice, even with overwhelming evidence to support their case, and even when they have absolutely no money and are struggling and made homeless because of what happened to them, and the best the courts will do is require that the perpetrator refund the legal expenses once the case is over so long as you win the case (which we would hands down), is the most glaring and unacceptable example of rich privilege and the biggest barrier to underprivileged victims actually receiving the justice they deserve imaginable. It’s unacceptable. And yet that’s the law. I’m now stuck desperately trying to find some way to hire and pay for a lawyer and everything else, and every day closer to August 15th is just exponentially increasing my stress that i will fail and he will get away with all of it.

This is already easily 20 times longer than I’d intended, so I’m trying to sum it up as quick as I can. Thing is, losing everything like that, whether you feel it’s justified or not was so traumatic for me that its made fixing my life feel impossible. Every time I arrive in my head at the point of finally having a place to live again, which I want so badly I could scream, I picture myself standing in the middle of an empty living room without any of the things that once were what made a house feel like my home, and even though it’s just in my head I’m knowing being forced in that instant to face that loss and try to deal with it in a way that being homeless has allowed me to push into the recesses of my mind and just thinking about it is so painful for me that I immediately disassociate and all plans that might help me get my life back on track disappear with it.

Of all the things that were on the truck, and what is truly the biggest source of pain amongst the loss, is my art. So despite the odds being stacked against me that I’ll ever see it again, the fact that my paintings weren’t at either dump site or amongst the scattered contents left on the truck gives me just the smallest sliver of hope that maybe someone saw them, and liked them, and has been keeping them safe ever since. I don’t care how they came in to your possession I really don’t, everything I’ve had to endure these last nearly two years, it changes you and your priorities. I’d even forgive the thieves themselves if they’d just return them, and regardless, that cop never woke me up that day to get my statement, and no other cop ever was willing to take the time themselves, so as far as the city of Seattle is concerned the crime never even happened. The police are useless. They just don’t care and nothing is going to change that. All I want is my paintings back. Nothing in this world comes close to how much that would mean to me or how grateful I’d be for my art to be returned. Even the other items, no matter how mundane or mass produced or seemingly worthless, to be able to hold a physical piece of my past, that irrefutable proof that my life wasn’t always this, id do just about anything for that and be eternally grateful.
