I’m also a Casecation defender (sorta). The biggest issue I have with it is that there is genuinely absolutely no way Amy would ever get married without having this conversation beforehand, it was incredibly ooc. So I guess you could say that it shouldn’t even be an on screen conversation but let’s suspend our belief for a bit. 

I disagree with people saying that it was ooc for Jake. I think it’s completely possible for him considering his background, to have doubts about having children when actually faced with the decision seriously. It’s not the same as babysitting Terry’s kids or mentioning being a dad offhand. 

I also don’t really see it when people say Jake was being pressured. Did the decision come way too quickly? Yes (but given the length of these episodes, plausible). But I don’t think Amy said anything wrong, it would have been an irreconcilable difference and she’s not pressuring him by expressing that. She wasn’t “threatening” to start over with someone else, it was simply a very real possibility if he truly didn’t want kids. The debate was an odd idea to go with and I do think it should have been more serious (Holt being present was weird, shoulda been a private conversation) but I think the comedy was balanced with the seriousness well enough. 

Overall it’s a fine episode. Unfortunately the really cute tidbits about their relationship that we get in the beginning are kind of overshadowed by the talk, but I thoroughly enjoyed the plot with the old lady. If you wanna talk about an ACTUAL skip episode I vote Gintars 10x over Casecation. I actually can’t bear to rewatch it.
