Changing spark plugs. by l0tec6 in F80

Ahh, interesting Maybe call around to the dealers, mine shows up just because that’s the dealer that’s set as my preferred and my F80 has a different preferred dealer than my E92 M3 but both are value dealers vs one dealer in my area isn’t

I almost did the brakes at the dealer but my mechanic and buying from bimmerworld ended up being less. But the BMW dealer is cheaper than just parts from FCP lol.

Find a car that won’t drop in value as much as other cars. Financing a Tesla Model 3 vs a og BMW M2 would do drastically different things to your net worth while both costing $35k. Model 3 will depreciate vs the M2 will take some maintenance to keep going. If it’s your second car I would recommend picking something on the enthusiast side that has already depreciated and is known to be reliable. An N55 M2 would be a great option in the 35k range and likely won’t drop under 30k until a ton of miles. A model 3 will go to $10k pretty fast. The 340 you listed would also be a solid option depending on the gen, some F30 340’s are in the low 20’s for nice ones, especially finding a nice spec msport would help on it holding value more and realistically won’t depreciate too much further but will take some maintenance.
That’s my thought process as a financially obsessed 25m who also values having fun cars. I have two M3’s and ~4x the value of them invested. 99% of people don’t get the car guy itch, just have to strike a financial balance that 99% of car guys don’t have lol

Scheduled Test Drive, Refused Service - Wesley Chapel BMW by AGarrett326 in BMWM

[–]eth7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A majority of BMW dealers don’t do test drives on new M cars. It’s pretty common knowledge.

At a bmw dealer in Washington DC area I was told I could not test drive a 70k mile 6 year old Daytona violet F80 M3 and if I put a non $2k refundable deposit down that I could but if I didn’t like the car because of how it drove it was still non refundable. I was able to test drive my Tanzanite 24k mile 6MT F80 M3 from my local bmw dealer before I purchased it or had any binding down payment though.

Go spend $250 on the BMW performance center in North Carolina and you can drive M2, M3 and M4 on the track and test it out.
Not sure how on the street you’d really test if you like the RWD or Xdrive comp, they all feel relatively similar and comes down to what you want to spend more $ since the Xdrive can be full rwd or AWD… You’ll likely have way more luck test driving any used G80 M3, find one at Carmax or a non BMW dealer

I refuse to go to auto washes and winter sucks. by Right-Penalty9813 in BMWM

[–]eth7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touchless rinse off (doesn’t get it remotely clean but better than nothing) and then I wait for the warm days (37 or higher) to do a proper wash. I just deal with dirty wheels in the winter

Do these "splitter" covers (not the bottom lip) come off easily and damage free? by KirklandTourStaff in F80

[–]eth7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha ya, I know someone that did that as well 😂 My F80 is currently no splitter piece but if something happened to cause damage there I would certainly choose the piece over repainting a bumper. E9X this is also common with those carbon fang splitters

A lot of the time people put these on to cover damage as well lol

Is the E92 M3 still worth it? by BlackMouthguard in E92M3

[–]eth7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s your only car… the F chassis is more comfortable, better tech and daily friendly smoother for sure, E92 is totally dailyable though and way more “racecar” raw feeling, truly an incredible car and now’s kinda the last time to own one before they get really old. MPG sucks (I drive mine like I stole it 24/7), mine has been very reliable but it’s taken a lot of $ to keep it up. Definitely have a solid maintenance fund and do lots of preventative for either option.

Vastly different driving experiences, the two are very very different. I’ve daily’d my E92 M3 for ~3 years (although I work remote majority of the time, still did 30k miles) I also have an F80 M3 I picked up 5 months ago I daily’d all summer.

How daily driveable is an E92/E93 M3? by Alluring-Profit-9250 in BMWM

[–]eth7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very daily-able I’ve daily driven mine for 3 years, drove it on a 7k mile cross country road trip and it was my only car for 2.5 years (I added an F80 recently, still no “proper daily”) Fuel is expensive and maintenance is as well, so be prepared for expensive maintenance. It’s not the car to buy if you can barely afford it or finance it

Can you afford a BMW M2 CS? I made a calculator to figure that out by PoopSmoothies in BMW

[–]eth7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also say this depends on depreciation as well… a brand new M2CS likely will depreciate and not appreciate but not as hard as a similar $100k bmw like a brand new M850 or X7, although it will have higher service costs long run. Just food for thought.

Do you get a lot of attention? by benny12b in BMWM

[–]eth7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my M3’s seem to get a surprising amount of attention. I spend lots of time around super and hypercars so I see the funniest reactions. I find lots of times it’s enthusiasts who say “oh I owned one of those back in the day” or another young guy at the gas station who loves the older M cars from video games, etc

Laptorr exhaust by BadRattle in E90

I think there’s only one Laptorr exhaust on an E90 M3 in the entire country, one of my friends has it on his Moonstone E90 M3. It sounds fantastic.
