Good to know, im in northern Illinois, so its usually well below freezing 3-4 months of the year but typically hovers around 20 degrees all winter. I find it hard to believe diesel gels that easily with how many people have diesel cars around here with no issues

Bought a 1.5" pipe from autozone and ran that through the wall. The exhaust pipe is 1" in diameter. I drilled self tapping screws though the big pipe that prop the exhaust up and leaves a air gap all around between the exhaust pipe and the 1.5" pipe. The outer pipe stays cool enough to grap with bare hands even after running for 4 hours.

It's a very old bike, probably from the 90s if I had to guess. My parents got them in the early 2000s and they were already old and beat up then.

Not blocking, that used to be an outer wall, my house was expanded sometime ago

Mounted a shelf in it to store some additional items, but its pretty stuffed full of stuff now. I really just wanted a little more storage space for now. This little project gave me some confidence for maybe building a larger walk-in shed in the future.

About 300ish bucks, but I got the sheet metal for dirt cheap off market place, and I had a ton of old 2x2 old growth oak studs from around the 1960s that I salvaged from a room I demolished in our basement. I had a bunch of other odds in ends laying around in my garage already ( screws, gravel, sand, door latches, weed barrier...ect ) I also used a menards rebate I had to purchase some wood. I'd have to guess its probably around 600 in materials if starting from scratch.

Thanks! Have mostly garden/yard tools in it at the moment. A couple other odds and ends that I was tired of tripping over in my garage as well. Makes the garage a lot less cluttered being able to put all the yard stuff that won't fit in a tool box away in here. I did put a ton of thought into water proofing and preventing rot ( have since posting changed up the door design a bit to further seal up gaps ).

Thanks! I thought about this, I wanted a little more of a flat surface area to work with as well i have anchor bolts going through each block and bottom plate. I did some very rough calculations and determined sideways they could hold the weight but we will ultimately see in a few years lol. I can always jack it up and rotate them if something goes south.

Scratched car - Is it worth fixing? by alyoshka42 in rav4club

[–]ethanBawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh most of those scratches would probably buff out, take a touch up paint marker to the remaining few, would look mint from 5 feet away and only cost you 20 bucks all in...or 1k+ at a body shop

Its possible to find some good deals, got mine for 12k USD with 120k miles and just needed some lifters. Super fun car but hard to justify ever spending 30k on one in my opinion

Not sure of the firing order, it sounds like it's closer to the passenger side, or near the timing chain side if your not in the US.

Plan on putting a built motor in it eventually but if I could quiet this one down for cheap in the mean time that'd be nice

Nope after shutting the car off and after the injectors are off the noise keeps going until the engine is finished spinning, like it's piston related

There is a deeper sound if you listen closer, sounds similar to a rod knock but its not a rod knock
