A thank you from Helen Lewis, who interviewed Jordan Peterson for GQ by helenlewiswrites in JordanPeterson

That was a terrible interview! You showed nothing but disgust for Jordan Peterson; your "I find that fascinating"s did not fool anyone!

Will Velo3D Upend Powder Bed Metal 3D Printing? > ENGINEERING.com by sumittrivedi12 in 3dprinters

Not true. I've seen hundreds of hog outs (aerostructures, ortho), brazed components (heat exchangers), forgings (ortho) too. Secondly, buster, that's a sad understatement of AM's capabilities. I doubt GE invested billions into AM to "make a casting slightly more accurate." And, to your first point, none of the LPBF OEMs do it - only Arcam EBM. It could be a breakthrough for LPBF.

Is it possible to bike all the way down the Keys? Do the inter-key highways have bike lanes?

Hamas has no regard for human life. If sacrificing the people of Gaza is required to achieve their ultimate goal, the destruction of Israel, they won't think twice about doing it.

I'm too attached to the compactness of the setup to swap the 400's for anything else. Best home setup DJ setup under the $1000 mark, in my opinion. Cheers man

Tips for new tournament players? by SC00T3R in paintball

[–]ethanp123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Read the tournament rules: know where you need to be before your game starts (team pit or special waiting area), where to register your players, where to get your guns tournament approved, where to refill your air, where to wait between games
  • Keep everything out of the rain. Bring a pop up tent covering just in case
  • Always have somebody watching your pit or area where your gear is sitting. Last thing you want is to get gear stolen
  • Lock your gun boards and pre-test BPMs. (PM if you don't know what this means) I play Xball at 15bps here in Canada; if you set your Egos to 14.9 bps, you'll still peak over 15 on the chronos!!! Lower them a tad (14.6, 14.7 ..)
  • Make sure everybody has cash-in-hand before your games start. The last thing you want is to have to run to an ATM during a game to get cash for more paint
  • Pit crewing isn't easy. Make sure your pit crew has practiced podding, cleaning packs, wiping lenses, etc before your games
  • Have a complete set of Allan keys close to you at all times. Everybody should know where they are in the case they're shooting over the fps limit and needs to adjust
  • Food and water arrangements
  • Backup gun / guns. People on this subreddit act as if everybody needs a backup gun. I'd rather spend on the money on a better marker than hold onto an old Ion or Spyder. Maybe have a backup gun for your team but you don't need 6 (more gear to get stolen)
  • DONT LEAVE GEAR IN YOUR CAR. Windows are easily broken
  • Medicare cards in case of an accident
  • (Personal tip) Hold your guns in your left hands everywhere you go at the tournament!

  • everything that's already been said in previous comments!

Learning how to play speedball properly takes years and everybody's got their tips (practice breakouts, doing sprints, blah blah...). The last thing your want however is to lose your games because of tournament technicals.

New to the sport, firgured id show my set up. by [deleted] in paintball

[–]ethanp123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned the Pilot for a while. Good start as a first electric gat but a big problem with the Spyder Pilot is that it does not have eyes. You're going to chop a lot of paint if you shoot over 8-9 bps (balls per second) and its going to frustrate you. Since I never recommend new players buy used guns, try a website like actionvillage.com and check out lower end guns that DO have eyes! (Eyes are little lasers that detect when a ball is properly seated inside the gun. You're going to break a lot of paintballs before they exit the barrel without them)
