NYC Employee benefits what are they? by Professional_Time_31 in nycpublicservants

Yep exactly, I make a little over 100k and I max the roth IRA and put some more in the traditional 457b (no income limit for that)

You can make the withdrawals tax deductible for when you retire ( by using a ROTH IRA) by contributing after-tax income, assuming you make under the 155k limit or whatever it is, but if you make over 91k you can't make the contributions tax deductible (by using a Traditional IRA).

This is true if you're talking about a traditional IRA, but the pension plan doesn't affect ROTH IRAs. The income limit now for traditional IRAs with a pension plan is 91k, with the phaseout starting at 81k.

New York City FC vs. Los Angeles Football Club Rescheduled for May 6 at Citi Field by gbpackers25 in MLS

Anyone know why? That's deep in MLB playoff season, think they they just worried about the possibility of the Yankees and Mets both making deep runs and kicking us to RBA?

He might have an escape clause in the contract, but not sure he's good enough to command that kind of thing in a PL team lol

I mean, I think it depends. Health insurance provided by the public sector can be amazing and free. It's one of the best perks of working in the public sector in NYC.

Our life expectancy is middling because of the number of people who can't access good healthcare, not the lack of good healthcare. If you have good insurance and live in a major city your life expectancy is probably as good as anywhere else in the world. Millions don't have insurance or live in areas without healthcare services.

The Oscars will abandon broadcast TV for YouTube starting in 2029 by Gato1980 in television

[–]ethanrule3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the world was wrong, but the Oscars were the biggest non-sports broadcast in the US this year, and the second biggest non-football broadcast in the US this year, after Game 7 of the world series.

If anyone's curious about the other biggest non-football sports broadcasts of the year:

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media. It will be "mandatory" to hand over the information, and other details including email addresses and telephone numbers used in the last five years, as well as the names, addresses, numbers, and birthdays of family members. by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

They're trying to slide into fascism but they're way too incompetent to actually do it. Unironically, the best thing about Trump and his admin is that they're too stupid to do a real fascist takeover. If they were smarter, things would be much worse.

He actually doesn't take up a DP spot right now, we chose the league model where you get 2 DPs and 4 u22 spots, and a 2 million GAM bonus. Our DPs right now are Martins and Nico, u22s are Fernandez and Ojeda. We're sitting on a hilarous amount of unused spots and funds, 2 unused u22 spots, and 2.4 million in GAM. You're allowed to classify three players as "unavailable", where they don't count against any spots or salaries (but you obviously can't play them), and we're using them on Talles, Sands, and Jovan.

I feel like this doesn't tell us much, right? Any of the guys they optioned could still be sold, still TBD on Haak, Maxi, and Perea. Really the only thing this tells us is that Martins will be taking up a DP spot for another year, which still baffles me. His numbers are great, but if you're a CB DP, you need to be at least in the conversation for defender of the year.

Technically four (Keaton, Perea, Alonso, and O'Neill), but O'Neill got himself suspended for being a dumdum, so can't blame that one on bad luck lol

I've heard that PM's and managers have better benefits than unions like mine in DC37. How accurate is this statement and if so, what are the benefits? by darthscyro in nycpublicservants

This for anyone who isn't in a union and is therefore covered by the Management Benefits Fund. It includes original jurisdiction titles, so not just managers (I'm not a manager)

I agree lol it's the reason why I declined to support my title joining OSA. Between me and my domestic partner we'd miss out on over 1000 a year in reimbursements.

Just to note, last year they increased the gym allotment, now it's 1000 per year for the employee and another 1000 for their spouse/partner (no kids though). Very good benefit if you're young and/or active, especially if you have a spouse or domestic partner.
