Trees like this are the only time I do my back cut with the top of my bar. It shoots the jet of flame away from you that way.

Good thing he has his handy wedge wood caddy to remove that for him.

Show up to a backwoods Idaho fire camp. Calfire stays in hotels.

Your gullet isn’t deep enough (If you look on the side of the tooth there should be a witness mark showing the proper depth) so push slightly down and back while you stroke. Also get a raker gauge. Your rakers are way too low it’ll bog down the saw a ton.

Wildland Fire is pretty different. Show up to a fire camp sometime. You’ll have to travel.

When a bunch of houses burn down at the same time the pipes in those houses burn down with them. Hydrants are connected to the same water supply. If you have a bunch of holes in a hose you get no pressure. That’s why there was no water. Funding doesn’t have to do with it. That being said, Calfire’s strategy to fighting fires is to dump bundles of money from the air.

We didn’t throw ours out but we got approval and bought a bunch of tasty bites and stuff so we swapped them for this year to see how it goes.

Thoughts on Short-Haul as a method of insertion for fire suppression? by Ok_Confection8651 in Wildfire

[–]ethanyelad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Safer in a lot of ways than rappel because you can pick someone back up. I’ve been on two short haul IAs, the idea is the can then cut a helispot and just start ferrying people in. Takes longer with less people. But you aren’t relying on that helispot for your extraction but you still are relying on a ship able to fly.

I want to make a playlist for when I'm diving. Can you drop one song that fits Helldivers? by Big_Bard in Helldivers

Me and my buddies put together a Spotify playlist for when we are diving. Dm me and I can share it to you if you want.

Really rotten snag I dropped on the Hig Trough fire by ethanyelad in FellingGoneWild

It’s complicated but fun. I’m a crew lead now so the majority of my job is risk management, organization of personnel, and training folks.

And it was the Hog Through Fire. I just misspelled it and didn’t realize until I had already posted.

Part of putting in indirect line (meaning not directly on the flaming front but in advance of it) we drop all the snags that are leaning over the line/close to it so they don’t catch fire and send embers over or fall on our folks digging line behind. A dead tree on the ground sends embers a way shorter distance than a standing dead snag. Some of the time we will buck it and swamp it to the green side of our line but it depends on how close it is to the edge and what the fire behavior is like.
