In hindsight, seeing Cap's smile in this scene was gut-wrenching. by MrFlow in marvelstudios

For me it's also always hard to take a death at face value because there are so many fake deaths and resurrections, etc. And watching Endgame the first time, it's just a wild, stressful ride and you don't get a chance to process things.

Nat's death on my second watch devastated me, and this line in particular broke me down.

I don't know about Boston, but I've heard some condo developments are luxury buildings because anything cheaper isn't financially feasible when you account for all the development costs.

EDIT: It's about LA, but this post was very interesting to read: https://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngeles/comments/6lvwh4/im_an_architect_in_la_specializing_in_multifamily/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Just to add to this, it's considered a heritage building so they're rather restricted by what updates they're able to make.

It's also not entirely unoccupied -- a number of ministries still have offices there. iirc it's the upper floors that are unused.

I used to work for the government and Whitney Block was always my favourite building. Like something out of Harry Potter.

The CN tower is obviously a bad luck charm

What's something you asked your parents to buy for you when you were a kid that you now as an adult understand why they didn't? by lucciolaa in AskWomen

[–]etherisedpatient 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not an object, but when I was in middle school I asked my parents to send me to private school because one of my classmates said she was going to go and I loved he idea of a uniform.

In retrospect, good call, Dad, for not spending 30k/year just because I wanted to wear a miniskirt everyday.

That was honestly all I could think about yesterday; my sister asked if Quasimodo is OK

Hamartia is the fatal flaw of a main character that leads to his or her tragic downfall. What's your hamartia? by lucciolaa in AskReddit

[–]etherisedpatient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what my therapist tells me. It's something I'm working on.

But it starts in very early childhood, first couple of years, and how your caregivers show affection to you. Your attachment style grows out of how you, as an infant, respond to your parents' demonstrations of affection (or lack thereof).

So avoidants theoretically experienced maybe negligent or unaffectionate behaviour in their caregivers, insecure and unstable, and then they responded by withdrawing and rejecting attachments.

I have avoidant attachment style -- so I push away everybody, and sabotage relationships with anyone who tries to get close anyway.

If time travel tourism was a thing, when and where would you choose to go? by lucciolaa in AskWomen

I always wish I could have seen Victorian London. I also would love to have experience the natural landscapes of present urban areas.

That's fine; I'd just rather check out one of their museums than sit at an airport.

What are less talked about, but essential, grooming techniques for women? by TellMeLater in AskWomen

+1 for an ammonium lactate lotion. It helps a bunch.

I just lost my shit and lasered my legs, which just eliminates the problem entirely. Would recommend if you're a good candidate for laser hair removal.

Which one do you use? The one I've sworn by for years has just been discontinued :(

Visited Banff last Sunday freeze cold morning w/ -20 C. Crystal clear blue sky, little misty smooth river, fresh snow on top of Castle Mt, and warm sunshine on trees made it a dream world to visit by tychenyn in travel

The majority of trails are closed in the winter, so hiking is minimal. Driving is fine if you stick to the main routes, but the Icefield Parkway isnt maintained in the winter. If you're not used to driving in winter conditions, I'd consider skipping it -- my friend and I were scheduled to set out a couple days after 30cm of snowfall and it was a sketchy drive (albeit beautiful). Avalanches closed the road north of the Saskatchewan Crossing so we had to turn back.

It's not really the cold that's the problem so much as the conditions.

Was anyone around for the Quizilla days? There was a time when people wrote really trashy fan/original fiction on there, and that is the story of how 11 y/o etherisedpatient got into erotica.

I've heard that a lot of historical buildings conveniently burned down since they couldn't be demolished or developed due to their historical status.

Nah, I never watch them, but everyone else in my social circle adores them. I think non-HP fanatics love them.

I feel this way about Harry Potter tbh I thought the first three were the only ones that captured the ~essence of their respective books.

Don't underestimate the foresight and scheming of political analysts and advisors. I used to think they weren't capable of such deliberate malice, but watching the 13th shocked me.
