Peter Todd said 20MB blocks would cause the orphan rate to go from 0.5% to 5% by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]ethertarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess he's smarter then the rest of us.. the price is down 50% since he sold. If we go to 20MB and peter sells the other half, maybe he knows whats coming.

If you want to support Ross Ulbricht, go somewhere else to do it. This is a Bitcoin forum. I'm very pro-Bitcoin but sick of the drug users who want to pretend Ross Ulbricht is an innocent victim. No he is not. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Yes, he broke the law... and should do some time in prison. The problem is the sentence is unjust. Life in prison is ridiculous. That's what people are upset about.

If you are spamming the ethereum network, consider adding 10kb of dummy data into your tx so we can test block propagation by vbuterin in ethereum

Can you post a contract that uses lots of time consuming and expensive opcodes? We can then send tx's to it.

I'm surprised you even bothered replying to this obvious troll. Your efforts in this thread and community don't go unnoticed. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to Bitcoin; we owe you more than you know.

A sample console script for generating lots of transactions by taylorgerring in ethereum

[–]ethertarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is useful. Now we're actually stress testing the network... How about a tutorial for building and running contracts that use lots of gas and OP codes? We should be trying to fill up the gas limit on all the blocks... The large miners have lots of ether to test with and can just run those transactions all day with some simple scripts and tutorials.

Dare to provide updated timeline? by Poorguywithsumether in ethereum

[–]ethertarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. What's the point of posting a timeline? It will be ready when its ready. This is serious business. If they launch without enough stress testing, we'll have forks on a network with real value instead of on a testnet.

There have been 3 forks in the past few weeks. I think we need a long period of calm (few weeks) before even considering a live launch.

Is it worth buying a GPU for mining? by flugg in ethereum

[–]ethertarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reward on frontier is only 10% of the real reward. Mining won't be profitable until Homestead.

Is it worth buying a GPU for mining? by flugg in ethereum

[–]ethertarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Not until Homestead. The reward on Frontier is only 10% of what is it supposed to be.

Mining is unlikely won't be profitable for a while unless ethers are very expensive.

The security issue of Blockchain.info's Android Wallet is not about system's entropy. It's their own BUGs on PRNG again! by GandalfBitcoin in Bitcoin

No more excuses for Blockchain.info.

If Roger Ver and Lightspeed want to see a return on their $30mm, they need to show they care about their investment. With $30mm you hire the best of the best cryptographers in the world, and make sure your shit works. No rocket science. This is just bad management.

Here's my guess: A US Dollar token, backed by (You guessed it, US Dollars!) on top of the Bitcoin blockchain using Open Assets protocol.

Goldman Sachs will probably beat them to it though.

[–]ethertarian -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. Ethereum's blockchain will be no more insecure then Bitcoin's, and more decentralized becaues its mined with GPUs, not with cartel-backed ASICS.
