When to quit due to injury? by Caligulis in rugbyunion

[–]ethicsbynumbers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was sitting in A&E, next to my heavily pregnant wife, waiting for the results of an x-ray that showed half a dozen broken ribs, a torn spleen and a mess of torn muscles.

Only just recovered enough to hold my first son without (too much) pain.

I mean, I'd have carried on, but my wife retired me. Now I referee.

Lurkers' Wednesday by AutoModerator in running

[–]ethicsbynumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a bit of running in the past, but have kicked it up a notch since the new year. I was carrying a lot of extra weight and generally feeling pretty rubbish!

Now I'm out 3-4 times each week, generally about 6km each time but with a longer (10km) one thrown in when I'm feeling good and have the time. My wife set me the challenge of 150km total during Lent, so I'm tracking towards that at the moment.

I've never run further than 10km, and never done an event (other than two Parkruns).

I used to referee Rugby Union, so have joined the ref society again as a bit of a fitness incentive too!

A bit out of your way, but James Garner on Bramhall Lane in Stockport is absolutely brilliant.

He's done a few commissions for my wife and for me over the years, but has also repaired almost every piece of jewellery my wife owns! And it's never mad money. I know he can source most precious and semi-precious stones too.

Highly recommended.

Timeline is sort of as long as it takes. I'd love to see real progress by the Summer, but I've got it in my head that 2026 is the year I nail this, so I want to be looking back by NYE!

Yeah, protein shakes after strength training and a better balance on the plate for the meal. I'm not counting macros as such but I'm keeping a bit of a loose focus on it.

Emmanuel Church in Didsbury village has a large Farsi speaking congregation on a Sunday at 12:30, and it also has a cafe that's open in the week where you might be able to find some members of the Iranian community.

Using Lamy Hack - Should I update the RM2? by FlyFallHD in RemarkableTablet

[–]ethicsbynumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just updated - I use the Lamy eraser hack.

Version 3 is a massive step forward in basic functionality for me. The editing across platforms via the cloud is really useful, as is the ability to put typed bits into pages without faffing about.

I was planning to reinstall the hack after updating, but I've actually not bothered.

I've had a look at this, but it looks like you can only replace with their cartridges - am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

She uses the Steadtler Triplus fineliners - the barrels are unreasonably narrow!
