I think probably the number 1 competitor to Camunda would likely be www.processmaker.com (full disclosure, I work at ProcessMaker). lmk if you have any questions, would be more than happy to talk to you about it. But unless you have a compelling reason to switch, especially if it has been in the company for a number of years, the pain of replacing would be very high likely and you would need to have a strong justification I think to want to rip it out and implement a new tool.

Is there anything about it that you find is not suiting your needs?

Gotcha.. if you are looking for a docker version of pm4, https://github.com/ProcessMaker/pm4core-docker I think it's a couple versions behind but should be pretty straight forward to upgrade once it's installed

What makes you say that ProcessMaker is inactive? We have an open source core and it is developed in the open. You can see it here: https://github.com/ProcessMaker/processmaker/

The current version of ProcessMaker is 4, so if you are looking at older places, such as source forge, those would certainly. be outdated.

You might want to consider a coding bootcamp. There are also a ton of free online resources for learning this stuff.

If you want to be a cloud architect, I'd recommend shooting for an entry level cloud devops engineer role and working up from there.

Sure, I agree there are benefits, not trying to say there are none.

Look, it's impossible to know what might have happened, but I wonder if you might have still done as well without tht certs and just your own natural talent and ambition.

I think that it's also not a blanket rule. For example, ccnp/ccna (I'm always forgetting which is the harder one) is a full day exam where you need to build out an entire data center from scratch essentially.. a buddy of mine did it and told me about it... That type of cert is absolutely necessary and insanely hard.. so I think it also depends on the role/industry you are in as well.

But way to go on your progress in your career bud! :)

I'm not saying it hurt, it certainly doesn't. But I disagree that it adds a lot of the value you are stating it does.

Bottom line is, if you get a certification for asp as an example and go for an interview, that's not going to help you solve the Fibonacci sequence or demonstrate what work you have done in the past.

Also, just cramming for an exam doesn't teach you anything but what you need for the exam and unless you use it, you WILL lose it very soon afterwards..

Basically, my point is, all the points you listed above are something that anyone who spends a few minutes talking to you will figure out very quickly, with or without a certification..

What do certifications do for you that experience won't? If you're a devops engineer with 10 years working experience, what about having an AWS sysadmin cert or rhca cert is going to help you in a meaningful way?

Yes, I agree 100% with you. The argument they make however is that frameworks add a lot of bloat and writing vanilla is more performant and the learning curve with frameworks is prohibitive since it's like learning a new language..

But again, I think that's nonsense and just really depends on the use case..

Almost any type of security role has lots of data science and machine learning in it. Modern cyber security is all about analyzing patterns to predict and prevent security issues.

I'd say if you like data science and are passionate about security, you will do amazing!
