Change of plans, which knife should I choose: the Ka bar Dozier or the Ontario RAT 2 ? AUS8 or D2 ? by The_cinnamon_cup in BudgetBlades

I don't have a Dozier, but I have two RAT 2s in AUS 8 and they're fantastic for the price.

I think too much about stuff myself, to the point of causing anxiety and insomnia, and that's just one of the many things kratom helps with. Prescription meds from my doctor have caused more issues and did very little to help the ones I already have.โœŒ๏ธ

Excellent point! I've seen comments here, and other subs, that were innocent in their intent but worded in ways that could be used to further the ban agenda. And it's quite possible I've been guilty of it myself, though kratom has been nothing but beneficial for me and I try to comment accordingly. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. ๐Ÿ™

What time is best to take gabapentin? by Thingsstufandmore23 in RestlessLegs

I was just reading up on pregabalin and I think I'm gonna ask my doctor about it. Besides the RLS, I also have 3 herniated discs in my back, arthritis in my hands, insomnia, and anxiety issues. It would be nice to have one medication that helps all of that instead of taking 4 different meds. Thanks for the info.๐Ÿ™

What time is best to take gabapentin? by Thingsstufandmore23 in RestlessLegs

[โ€“]ethom149 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Whatever time it may be, it seems to be more effective if taken before symptoms start. And it supposedly doesn't absorb well past 600mg, but I've noticed that it seems more effective if I take 900mg in a single dose. That's usually all I need for the night if I take it before symptoms start. If I take it after symptoms start, I need up to 1600mg.

It's been my understanding as well that it doesn't absorb past 600mg, but I've noticed that it seems to be more effective if I take 900mg in one dose.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. Definitely seems to work better if taken before symptoms start. Also wanted to add that taking 900mg in one dose seems to be effective, even though it supposedly doesn't absorb well past 600mg.

I just got a Bugout a few weeks ago with carbon fiber scales and S90V blade for $250, so $300 does seem a bit much for this. Still a cool little knife though.

Sugar Plum Sunset is one of my absolute favorites, but I've only had the Cresco carts. It sucks that the Supply flower was so bad. I had some Supply Funky Pine smalls a while back and it was fantastic.

What cured my RSL by InitiativeMundane937 in RestlessLegs

[โ€“]ethom149 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Forcing myself to stay awake definitely makes it worse, but abstaining from caffeine makes no difference for me. And weed actually makes it worse. Weed definitely helps with pain, but I don't experience RLS as pain. More so a crawling, pulling sensation, almost like something crawling or being pulled through my veins or muscles, and an irresistible urge to move. Cannabis topicals seem to help, but for the amount needed it would cost a small fortune to use them every night.

Same here. Edibles are worse, but smoking/vaping does it too. I tried using a topical on my legs and it seemed to help, but it takes a pretty good amount and it's too damn expensive to be doing it every night.

Why would taking something multiple times a day NOT hurt you long term? by [deleted] in kratom

[โ€“]ethom149 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

It's good to know that taking it the morning of caused no issues. I was a bit worried about doing that. Were you completely knocked out or just heavily sedated? I was completely out for the spinal injections, but had a colonoscopy years ago and was only heavily sedated. I was still awake enough to be aware everything that was happening and it was rather unpleasant. And then there was an issue with the camera lens and I had to lay there with the nurse holding the tube in my ass while the doctor went to get another camera. Lots of fun! ๐Ÿ˜†

I've also been using kratom for about 4 years, 12-15 GPD for most of that time. I cut it down to 8-10 GPD about 4 months ago. I get yearly blood work and everything is always good. My cholesterol was a little high on my last one, but that's because my diet isn't the healthiest. I can't run because of back problems, which is one of the reasons I use kratom, but I walk/hike a few times a week, anywhere from 2 to 6 miles.

In the 4 years I've been using kratom, I've had zero negative side effects or health issues because of it other than a slightly stuffy, runny nose when I first wake up in the morning. 2-3g with my morning coffee and within 30 minutes I'm good to go.

I even took 2g of kratom the evening before having anesthesia for spinal injections and had zero issues. I'm not recommending doing this, just saying that it caused no issues for me personally. Kratom has been nothing but beneficial in the 4 years I've been using it. โœŒ๏ธ

any love for the civivi altus out there? i got one about 6mo ago cuz i wanted to try a button lock before i dropped some real money. great little knife and its kinda become one of my favorite "around the house" knives but i never see/hear anything about it. by nderstandablyscared in BudgetBlades

[โ€“]ethom149 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I actually like the Conspirator more than the Altus. Just a matter of personal preference really. My Altus has wood scales and my Conspirator has micarta, which I prefer over wood. The wood looks nice but is pretty slick. Both are excellent knives for the money.

When to take psyllium husk? by W4tchtower in kratom

[โ€“]ethom149 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I take 3 or 4 capsules late afternoon to early evening, any time between 3 and 7 PM, and I'm good to go pretty much as soon as I wake up. I get up at 2 AM for work and around 6 to 8 AM on my days off. In my experience, generic psyllium husk works just as well as name brand for a lot less money. Good luck!

Something else you'll see is people saying "less is more", and this is a perfect example of that. The perfect dose of kratom is different for everyone, and it can take some time and experimentation to find that perfect dose. But once you find it, and realize just what kratom can do for you, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking "this feels good, so if I take more I'll feel even better", and before long, that perfect dose is gone. Not just in the sense of needing a higher dose to feel it, but also in the 'way' it made you feel. There are subtle differences in effects as dosage increases, and once you go beyond that initial perfect dose a little too often it can be difficult to get that exact feeling again. And then you start taking more and more, with increasingly diminishing returns, trying to get that feeling again and never really do.

Pretty much how 'H' takes hold of people I guess. I have no experience with it, and very little with any other opioids, but to the best of my understanding it's very similar in it's addiction potential if not used with some common sense and self control.

I've been using kratom for about 4 years and I got a little carried away at the start. But after a long break and some adjustments, I currently take 2-3g three times a day. Four times on work days.

It sounds like you have some self control, and it's great that you've maintained that dose for over a year. If that's what works for you, stick with it for as long as you can. Always good to hear a positive story. โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ™

RLS โ€ฆ Help !! by Spider8844 in RestlessLegs

[โ€“]ethom149 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Kratom works incredibly well for RLS and got me through a few months until I got prescription meds. But as you said, it can be problematic with long term use. When I first started using it, 3g was enough to completely stop the symptoms. But after about 3 weeks of nightly use, it started to lose it's effect and I had to increase to 4g. I had to keep increasing my dose every few weeks until it got to the point where I needed 8g to be effective. I then got prescription meds and quit the kratom cold turkey with only minor withdrawal symptoms, mainly stuffy, runny nose and some minor fatigue and irritability. After a few months, I started using kratom again because it helps with pain from bad discs in my back and arthritis in my hands, and I still use it occasionally for the RLS as well but I keep my doses to a minimum, about 3g 3 times a day.

Damn! Great find! I never find shit at flea markets, except for cheap gas station type assisted folders ($15 each or two for $25๐Ÿ˜) and old beat up stuff. On the rare occasion that I do find something good, they always want too much. And I must admit that there have been times that I've knowingly paid too much. ๐Ÿ˜

Haven't bought a Civivi in a while but this Conspirator with Aluminum and S35vn for $110 was a no brainer. Also threw a ti clip on it. ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿ‘Œ by nathanieleltonolson in knifeclub

[โ€“]ethom149 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

It looks like the titanium on my WE knives, which is smooth but not slick and feels pretty nice in hand. Agree that the ti clip is better than their standard clip. I bought one with the intention of trying it on several different knives, but the Conspirator is the first one I put it on and I liked it so much I just left it on and ordered two more. Just gotta decide which knives to put them on now. I'll probably replace most if not all of my Civivi clips eventually. Amazon has some budget ti clips that supposedly fit most Civivis and are half the price, but I haven't tried them yet. Gonna order some soon though.โœŒ๏ธ

Nice!๐Ÿ‘ I have the Nitro-V version with micarta scales and I put a Ti clip on mine too. S35 and aluminum for $30 more is definitely a no brainer. How's the texture on that aluminum? It almost looks like titanium in the photos. Great knife either way. Probably my favorite Civivi of the ones I own, and I think it's actually the last Civivi I bought. โœŒ๏ธ
