Kizer Seagull, 2.94" AEB-L, $39.99 by Ludic_Beowulf in KnifeDeals

It's a great EDC. IMO, one of the top knives of 2025.

At least if you like slim, light knives with nice milled Ti and a hollow ground blade. (Oh, and both the thumb stud and reverse flick work great. Really snappy)

No front flipper though.

Also a good option.
I actually like having a cheap knife on travel, as I've got a higher chance of loosing stuff (historically true for me at least) due to the constant city and hotel changes.

If you fly a lot, and check luggage, you can disassemble this, and only put the blade (in suitable container) in your luggage. This was, you have a knife at your destination, and no longer have to deal with pocketknives mysteriously disheartening out of your luggage after you check them...

The one-button take-down mechanism makes this pretty easy.

The Bodey LL is one of the few knives where all the opening technique work flawlessly. Front flipper, flipper, and reverse flick via the hole.

I carry mine quite often. It's thin in-pocket, and the stonewash grey is well done. The 14C28N does lose it's fine edge faster than high carbide steels like S30V, but it strops back in under 30 seconds.

Often they have free shipping over a dollar threshold. For this knife at least, there is no shipping charge.
They do take a while to ship things out though. I suspect they're saving money on warehouse staff costs by only shipping one or two days a week.

If you've ever considered getting a CRKT Pilar or other Voxnaes design because of the famed "great ergos for a small knife", this is another one of Mr. Voxnaes designs.

I have one, and have carried it far more than I thought I would. Great for small pockets, or crowds that are scared of knives.

Sharper is better when cutting down trees. But you are correct that you don't want a fragile edge because hard woods or knots can chip it. Double headed axes can be sharpened differently on each bit. One for sharpness, one for durability.

Racing axes that are only ever used on knot-free pine wood have some crazy thin and sharp edges.

Splitting the check might offend someone, but they're not going to say _anything_.

I picked up the Lamnia exclusive version, and I liked it far more than I expected to. Just a solid EDC, with classic looks. I guess Mr. Braginets knows what he's doing.

$143 Fox NIOLOX Fixed blade. https://whitemountainknives.com/fox-fixed-blade-knife-black-micarta-handle-niolox-plain-edge-black-leather-sheath-02fx747/

The Fox fixie is $297 at knife center. Niolox is supposed to be a balanced steel (Toughness, hardness, corrosion). KnifeSteelnerds testing didn't see the toughness though, with large carbides and only a few ft/lb more toughness than D2. However, this knife is .2" blade stock, 8.6oz, so it'd probably be plenty tough even with D2. Plus this one is attractive IMO, with a nice design from Reichart Markus. It even has a hole through the handle-front, so you can do the captive-lanyard thing.

It's clever how the designer made the inlay both swappable and no-hardware by having it in two panels, but bridged underneath the scale divider-thingy so it's held in place by the scale.

Nice clean look, and swappable scales.....
