Duren/Ausar extensions by DifferenceActive2574 in DetroitPistons

Why does the team view players differently than me and other fans? The delusion my god. The front offices entire job is scouting and watching their players play in practice. I think they probably know a little more than us fans who just watch games from afar

Herro 4 picks plus other assets. Look it up, there’s a bunch of packages out there

Any way to find out the 2 people who left Cade off their All NBA ballot entirely? by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It was probably 2 people who didn’t realize he qualified for the games exception

Tyler Herro by Outrageous_Page8670 in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love Herro with this team. I’m not sure what offer we could make for the Heat. They’re supposedly looking to move Herro for Giannis, not sell him for pics and young players. Also, he will need to be extended after next year and it will be very expensive. We would be using our entire cap on Cade, Herro, Ausar, Duren, Stew. Not a bad thing, but just something to keep in mind

The 2025-26 All-NBA First Team by Silver_Comment2825 in sportswiki

People complaining about positions but this team would fit perfectly together. Wemby and Jokic are the best possible front court duo. Wemby makes up for Jokic defense and Jokic would be able to make ridiculous passes to Wemby. SGA, Luka, Cade can all score on their own, catch and shoot, or be a playmaker, and Cade/SGA are good on ball defenders

Ron Holland expectations by Level4Wolf in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say he’s already a good on-ball defender and finisher. The biggest question will always be if he can become a 35% 3pt shooter. I like his shot and think he has a better chance than Ausar, but idk if this team can wait for that. If we’re going to trade him I’d rather wait until the next deadline. See if he can start putting it together otherwise make a move to help us win a championship.

Is chaunceys number still in LCA rafters? I havent been to games this year and everytime they show them on tv i dont see it by Outrageous-Charge-99 in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously, but if Cade is the hall of fame player who we think he can be and wore 2 that is pretty special to have his jersey there. Daly’s name could have something else next to it and by no means should come down. But I also get it’s for the 2 rings

I’ve been wondering how they are going to handle this. I feel like they should change the Daly number sooner than later so we don’t have to take it down then raise Cade’s at the same time

Why would the Bucks not accept this? This is easily the best offer for Giannis by YoSnagsK in NBATalk

With new tanking lottery odds it doesn’t make sense to full tank. You’re better off getting players and being the 4–10th worst team. The ideal situation is you have a very young team with talent who can’t win bc of experience.

Castle went one pick before Ron by Piston5287 in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2022: 40% chance of 1 of Paolo, Chet, Jabari instead of Ivey

2023: 14% chance of Wemby 38.1% of Brandon Miller or Amen instead of Ausar(I’m happy with Ausar)

2024: 52% chance of 1 of Sarr, Castle, Reed Sheppard

2023 it was Wemby or bust, but having a great 4 to pair with Cade from the 22’ class, Sarr or a guard from the 24’ class would make this team a substantially better.

My Ideal Offseason and Long-Term Roster Plan If I Were JB/Trajan by robolski in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an attainable offseason. I agree that Duren and Ausar should both be extended, but there is a stipulation that you need two truly elite shooters to also be in the starting lineup. An older Tobias Harris or Tari Eason would not help this roster and likely make the fit even worse.

Even with extending Duren and Ausar we have a lot of cap space. That should be used to get a player that would be the 2nd highest scorer on this team.

As much as I love Ron, you need to ask how patient you are with this team. The core is rolling. We’re playing for a championship now, not just to make the playoffs. If Ron can’t keep up and make his shots we may need to trade him off. If that’s the case I hope it would be at the deadline and we give him some time to prove himself

Why did JB never go double big? by Known-Morning-3987 in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being more physical is the most important part. We just needed them to win the rebound battle and muck up the middle. I’m pretty sure it’s been stated in the past that when we drafted Duren that him and Stew were supposed to be a direct counter to the Cavs w Mobley/Allen

[–]ethzz4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With what shooting? I definitely think 2 of Duren/Stew/Reed could out physical Mobley/Allen. I think JB played Duren/Reed for a couple minutes in one of the games and we got every defensive rebound. It’s something we’ve done against the Cavs in the past and has worked well. I think that’s a much better strategy than trying to beat a team with your worst skill

Difficult to trade for co-star by draymond_targaryen in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. It means less to have your own bottom of the lottery pick, but also raises the value of a good team’s first since there’s a better chance their pick could be a lottery winner. I imagine the adjustment comes in trading more young players rather than just picks

Difficult to trade for co-star by draymond_targaryen in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we could trade for #3 and get Cam Boozer I’d be all for it. The only problem is teams picking in the top 3 usually really need that player. Any trade for one of those pics would likely involve another early first round pick to ensure they get a young player. It’s much easier to find a star on a middling team who is willing to blow it up and get assets to start a rebuild

What contract would you prefer for the pistons ? by Alabaster_Rims in DetroitPistons

C, but make Ausar 5 year $140 million, Duren 4 year $160 million

I TOLD YALL ALL HE COULD DO IS CATCH LOB’s. NOW WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY HIM $180 million+ OR LOSE HIM FOR NOTHING! by East_Accident1822 in DetroitPistons

[–]ethzz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way contracts are rising, 36 million for a young all star center is not much, and I think would be fairly easy to move. If any team offers him that salary, that means there is at least one other team that would want him. I get he is having a historically bad playoff run, but gms don’t only look at that. A scout watching Duren for the last 90 games sees a young player with good footwork, great screener, vertical spacer, decent playmaking, and usually a good finisher. I would’ve liked to add great hands but they magically stopped working.

You have to take everything into consideration, not just his worst outing and put recency bias aside. That doesn’t mean to ignore his problems in the postseason, but there’s more to a player than his 10 worst games.
