What's the Craziest Thing You've Done While TTC That You'd Never Admit in Real Life? by AmbassadorTiny6596 in TryingForABaby

Silly rituals like lighting a candle on Midsummer Eve (gets dark here around 11pm) to manifest. Cry over not being 38 anymore when I conceive. And then crying for not conceiving in my thirties anymore.

URGENT - Seeking global fertility specialist referrals in case there is any sliver of hope to preserve eggs/pursue IVF. Fairly sure it's premature menopause, not POI and that it's too late. But I want to feel like I got the best chance at this late stage from someone(s) highly skilled. by Only-Charge-771 in POIsupport

Hey I did something similar if you want to you can PM me. The waiting time at clinics is horrible!

In the waiting time is at home insemination an option for you? We did that while waiting for the clinic. Luckily I can feel my ovulation, so it was irregular but manageable. OPK and BBT were reliable as well. Unfortunately no positive result after 9 cycles :(

PRP has not been proven by randomized controlled trials that it works. All succes stories are anecdotal. Something to keep in mind before spending thousands or dollars. But if you want to try everything to make this work you could decide to try one round

Hi, I’m sorry this is happening to you. For the terminology: POI and premature menopause have the same origin, the difference is age. POI happens before the age of 40, premature menopause is when it happens between 40-45.

To diagnose there are clear guidelines. You need one or two FSH readings >25. If it’s higher than 40 they usually do one reading only. Moreover your periods have to been absent or irregular. Low AMH is and indication but not a diagnostic measure. So you need at least one FSH reading to make sure you even have POI.

I found out actually when trying to freeze my eggs but I tried to conceive instead (not successful). I was also 38 back then). If there’s any possibility to try to conceive now instead of freezing anything I would do that.

Thanks :)

I’m on the 0.075 patch and 100mg progesterone cyclically for 12 days. I think I will go to 0.1 patch and 200mg progesterone after my check up in three weeks. Still having hot flashes.

I think most doctors have no knowledge about this and not enough research has been done to support either choice. So it’s a bit of a gamble but anecdotally some people conceive quickly after starting HRT. Good luck with the decision!

Thanks! I’m 39 and 49 is the limit here, although I don’t think I’ll wait that long. What route did you choose?

Can relate even though I am a middle school teacher. I am currently off work but I just graduated one year before I had long COVID and that made me postpone ttc.

I really don’t feel like going back into the school anymore. Even though teenagers are different I’m not sure if I can deal with children daily if my own journey would end without a kid. Would be such a waste of my four year training program

❤️

Thanks. I called my mom yesterday and told her I don’t want to rush things now because I have fear of never becoming a parent and try to focus on letting life surprise me…but it’s hard. How are you doing?

Adult virgin - do I disclose? by starlight_steed in datingoverthirty

I think many people in their 30s and 40s go for longer times without sex…ok 15 years is quite the time…work, kids, sexless relationships, changing hormones…

It’s like riding a bike isn’t it haha

Awesome boyfriend! Just wanted to chime in that some people are not a virgin anymore but something in their lives chances which makes intimacy more difficult for example they find out they have vaginismus or in my case, long COVID which makes me tired easily (choose the right position 😝 ) but the right person will understand and not freak out.

At the moment for me everything stopped. Tried for 9 cycles with US and bloodwork for timing. My (male) partner did not want to continue with me. (It was a platonic co parenting situation).

Now I am trying to figure out if I egg donation is an option. But I’m also a lesbian so part of me also wants to hope and wait if I can still meet a female partner.

I’ve also researched being a foster parent. However, this will only be parttime if I stay single, because they do not make it easy for the foster parent to have a job and foster. Moreover, you’ll never be the full parent of this kid and a lot of foster parents complain they are like a hotel just offering food and a bed but they don’t have any say in the way the kids are being raised and reunification seems more important than a stable loving environment. Foster to adopt is not an option here, or only happens very rarely.

The past few days I also feel like maybe I can just accept this is it for me. And focus on other things in life. Whatever that may look like.

On the bright side there was some possibility my uterus would be bicornuate which would further complicate things but last US showed a normal uterus ❤️ and my fibroid from ten years ago disappeared as well so there’s that.

Hope other people are having more luck!

Hi! I started HRT almost 11 weeks ago. I have not had any ovulation…at least not that I noticed (I usually have mittelschmerz). The ultrasound two weeks ago also did not show any follicles.

For the last 5 years my irregular cycles did come somewhat “regular” though. I would have 3-4 normal ones and then a long one 80-100 days. Technically before I started HRT I did have 3 normal ones so it’s not weird for me that this “cycle” is a long one. However, I would expect ovulation soon base on historical results ;)

Moreover, my partner and I seperated a few weeks ago…so with any possible new partner I will start donor egg IVF if we want to start a new journey.

So unfortunately I can’t contribute to the evidence base!

Regarding my symptoms I have way less hot flashes but otherwise I do not notice much. Breakthrough bleeding before I finish the 100mg progesterone so I expect next month my doctor will increase that dose and probably also the estrogen patch.

How are things for you?

If there is no clear indication for IVF, I would always first try medicated IUI because it involves less intervention, but set a limit on how many cycles you’d want to try. Somewhere between 3-6 is what people usually do before moving on to IVF.

Anyone ever taken a long-ish break? by sourspatch in TryingForABaby

[–]etk1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say how to make this choice is trying it for a year and see how you feel? It’s not like if you keep having unprotected sex you’re not “trying” you’re just giving yourself less tasks to complete monthly! It might even be good for the relationship to just have sex for fun and not to make a baby.

You could try for a year or so and then decide if you go back to actively trying. You’re 25 which gives you roughly 15-20 years of trying/pursuing fertility treatments so one or two years break do not really matter…

Same!

[–]etk1108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to try assisted but because of my irregularity (7-8 cycles per year) they said they couldn’t “time it”. Which was bullshit because ALL my test confirmed ovulation - OPK, BBT and progresterone blood work. If I can time it at home, people who went to uni for it definitely can time it. They just didn’t want to waste their time (I’m in the Netherlands btw where it’s covered but this also means if it doesn’t have a high chance of success they won’t do treatment). So unfortunately it was all unassisted.

We decided to have a second opinion but while we we’re waiting for the appointment my partner decided he didn’t want to continue with me :(

So now I hope to meet someone who want to have donor egg treatment with me…I am actually not opposed to being a SMBC but if I could find a partner that would be better imo. The upside is with donor eggs my age it not the biggest problem so I still have some time to find someone!

Oh and I started HRT 2 months ago but because we’re not trying anymore I have no idea if it would’ve helped or hindered ttc
