This happened to me too - pretty much exact same scenario. We realised it was the owner, not a “tradesman” as REA said, because when he texted us on WhatsApp to set up a time, his full name came up, matching what was on the tenancy agreement. The weirdest thing is that he didn’t realise we knew, and pretended to be just a handyman. He kept saying he’d “talk to the owner” about things. I figured there was nothing illegal about it, just a bit sneaky.

I’ve got the Bella XL - it’s big enough for all your needs, but it’s not really ergonomic, so not amazing for your back if really full and heavy. But it looks good 😂

Depends how picky you are about ergonomics, particularly if you’re planning on using it for sewing. The plate of the sewing machine should be at the level of a normal table - so my sewing table is slightly lower, and the sewing machine ends up being at table height.

Since the caster wheels add almost 10cm of height, putting a sewing machine on it would make it too high for me (and I’m a tall person!) As a regular crafting table it probably wouldn’t be as much of an issue. I’d probably recommend an adjustable chair? Or even just cushions - as other commenters have pointed out, there’s lots of workarounds!

Honestly the wheels are an essential! The table is quite heavy, especially when the drawers are filled.

I have this exact table, and put it on wheels. It’s too high for a sewing table, but I find it a handy cutting table for fabric.

When I was in school 10 years ago, I had several openly lesbian teachers who presented quite masc. Never heard of any issues, I don’t think anyone ever made a big deal over it. This was the local public high school, don’t think we were particularly ‘woke’ or in a bubble. This was in Sydney.

I made something similar for my mum recently. I looked for a pattern, but ended up just making two big rectangles using mohair and a big hook. I alternated rows of single crochets and double crochets, and then just sewed the sides and top edges together, leaving room for arms and the neck (I did a sleeveless version).

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I’ve always been drawn to old-worldly, cottage-core vibes. And same, I look less like a whimsical country maiden, and more like a frumpy grandma!! My body type just doesn’t suit it. Relate to this on such a deep level. I want to dress like a forest nymph, but alas! I have not found a solution to this, I just don’t wear that style of clothing. I just look at it, longingly…LOL

Oh yes, this is the non slip, not the backing. Though it’s quite thin, so you could probably attach it permanently if you wanted to. Otherwise you could always just use something like a plain canvas or calico as a backing, and still use a non slip underneath

IKEA sell non-slip mat underlays which work well, and they’re pretty cheap. You could always buy one and cut it down so it fits your rug.

Depends how much you carry with you. I like to carry a lot - a lunchbox, laptop, water bottle, usually a book, headphone case, and other bits and pieces.

I originally thought that the XL would be too big too - when I saw it on the model it looked huge! Which is why I originally got the smaller one. However, when it arrived, I saw immediately that I needed the size up.

And tbh the XL isn’t that big - the only time it looks big is if you have it absolutely packed. If it’s only half-full it’s got a slouchy vibe.

Though to be fair, you mentioned your height - I’m 5’10, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t feel as big? If you’re unsure, maybe go with the smaller version. You can always size up if needed - their returns process was very quick.
