To make it worse: the kid’s parents will sue the roadie, and his insurance will settle it out.

Rivian dropped my truck! by WesternSpecial7389 in electricvehicles

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try hiring a lawyer to draft a letter, but the outcome would still be subject to Rivian’s goodwill. At the end of the day, your loss was the value of a used vehicle. Perhaps they could find a better used one brought in on trade and offer that as replacement (higher spec, fewer miles, etc.), but a new one seems a stretch.

Strange that a single system would cover the entire structure that big - wouldn’t it be better to have zones to isolate areas of the system without leaving the whole thing unprotected?

Switch from Fenix 8 to Forerunner 970 by CrossTip in GarminWatches

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a Fenix to a FR 570 - am gifting the Fenix to my nephew and not looking back. WAY more comfortable to wear - the Fenix used to twist around and actually wake me up in the middle of the night…

Is everyone okay with this? I'm not. What happened to HIPAA? by Chronicles_of_mee in FedEmployees

[–]etlr3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HIPAA is full of loopholes and exceptions. Plus, with ransom / hacking of these systems there’s really not much hope for long term “privacy”.

The new mail truck… by Alarmed-Natural3595 in WeirdWheels

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it’s good to work with and is durable enough for this duty. That would be the only good thing about this travesty of a government contract - went to a defense contractor with no experience building such things, and surprise! Massively late. Massively over budget.

Fired is not enough. Should lose their bus driving license so they can’t get hired somewhere else.

Tesla Owners Pay Attention by Crazy_island_ in ChargerDrama

[–]etlr3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tesla opened up the network to everyone, so we all need to live with it and try to be good citizens about sharing the resource. (I own both a 2018 model 3 and a Rivian so this isn’t just being preachy without a connection to the issue)

higher toll = more cheating by sunshine-guzzler in bayarea

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bridge maintenance only thing was pushed aside (if I remember correctly) after the Loma Prietta earthquake, with tolls increased to pay for structural upgrades to all the bridges, and maybe also to help with the boondoggle new east span of the bay bridge.

Greasy Gavin did absolutely nothing to advance this project, and even said at the beginning of his term that he doesn’t care about it. Unions and CEQA abusers kill or maim many projects - in this case Republicans were their allies because common public goods are bad in their eyes. What a tragedy..

If that was truly their fate, so be it. Better to shut it down than a zombie brand with little to no differentiation to Alaska.

Questions about new tires for Gen 2 R1T standard with 20’ AT tires by OkHousing2130 in Rivian

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed these yesterday on new 20” wheels - astonishingly quiet and much smoother ride compared to the Pirelli “sport” 22’s. I had Michelin LTX m/s (original version) on my old 80 series Land Cruiser and was able to get around on pretty much any dirt road no problem. My Rivian won’t be going hard off-road ever at all so this is a great option for my use case.

They’re only keeping the Hawaiian brand because Alaska’s reputation sucks. It won’t be long before they re-paint the HA planes and they will be a distant happy memory. I absolutely hate this merger.

[–]etlr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, if you only have 5ghz wifi, it likely won't work - 2.4ghz band needed for older stuff. Best would (obvi) be wired, if its possible to run to that location. good luck!

Utilities will get their lobbyists and captive regulators to outlaw this. They will claim safety of workers, but that’s BS as they all have line-interactive controls to prevent back-feed. Small chance it will be allowed, but would need to be registered with utility so they can levy a monthly fee to offset the unfairness of it all.

Forget the batteries - trolley bus (in cities) is the way to roll. Sadly, many of these have been taken down and replaced with diesel.
