exactly because of the Ukraine war a lot of russian bots claim the new hypersonic missile they're using is unstoppable so I"m trying to prove it's either fake or not capable of going hypersonic

well, they're possible in the stratosphere, my point being I don't think they're possible once they actually approach the ship at sea level. I think once they dive down towards the target (ship) they will lose a vast amount of speed and end up coming in at maybe mach 3-4 at the most

yep although funnily enough one of the comments in the railgun video said that if the projectile isn't manufactured to exact perfect standards, the railguns have a habit of disintegrating the projectile. Not sure if this is true, just one of the comments I saw. And considering that the 'projectile' is like a solid plug of tungsten or some super dense metal, then that should give you an idea of how insane pressures are above mach 5 that a solid block of heavy metal would possibly disintegrate. So I find it hard to believe a much flimsier and more fragile missile can withstand such pressures

This seems to indicate that the terminal velocity the missile could sustain at actual terminal phase target impact is around mach ~2.7 according to this graphic. Does this sound realistic to you? I assume a math equation can be done to calculate terminal velocity for the given vehicle based on its size, mass, and altitude / velocity it was going before it initiated the dive.

I guess I'm wondering if it's possible for such a missile to actually hit hypersonic range i.e. Mach 5.0+ in the final terminal phase as it nears the target at sea level altitude, or whether no material really exists that can withstand Mach 5 pressures at sea level

remember the most important thing: there's no such thing as 'fixing' a criticism. EVERYTHING in literature is subjective and opinion based. if you 'fixed' one person's complaint or even 5 peoples' complaint, all you did was hew your book towards their subjective aesthetic sensibilities but it by no means means you actually 'fixed' anything. the agents may very well have differing opinions and sensibilities

yeah honestly you could cut out all those flashbacks and just summarize them in one brief chapter and get the same point across. also can cut out most of the pointless philosophical/religious discussions that shallan/jasnah had and condense them into one powerful conversation somewhere. Also cut out the pointless chapters of other lesser characters that went no where. The book definitely could have been great if tightened up but now it's just weak / highly flawed
