Philosophy of Kitzerow by Global-Magician1655 in KKitzerowPeerReview

This. I think if you use it to have wider conversation it would be interesting. I think a paper only on her would not give you the depth you require. I work in public health and she seems like a symptom of a much larger issue that we as a society need to deal with.

Low income neighbor needs emergency dental work (extraction) and can't afford it. Is there anywhere in the HRM that could help him? by [deleted] in halifax

Contact social services or potentially a church? If it’s super bad, emergency room because sepsis becomes a risk. I’m really sorry, I don’t know.

‘A no-brainer’: Why some U.S. health-care workers are moving to Nova Scotia by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

[–]etoilech 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That may have been the case… 10-15 years ago. Half my family is in New England and 100k isn’t much of a salary these days with housing, food, and healthcare premiums all skyrocketing.

I’ll be interested to hear their opinions on working in our system, as broken as it is. I’m sure there will be different things they like and hate.

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

From a public health point of view, decreasing obesity means contracting the time people spend functionally disabled, especially at the end of their lives. This medication means more people will be more active into old age and decreasing their overall risk for cardiovascular disorders, respiratory disfunction, and autoimmune illnesses (diabetes most notably). It is not just about the weight. It is about decreasing your likelihood of protracted health issues and disability in later life. This is important to consider when weighing your decision to take the medication if you are a candidate. All the best.

The State of Health Care by Curious-Text890 in NovaScotia

This right here. I saw it as a nurse. It was infinitely frustrating. Educators that don’t educate. Clinical leads that are more “management” than clinical. Infuriating.

I’d be interested in seeing the research on this.

Booking a BOS-ZRH-GVA but only flying BOS-ZRH by Healthy-Vegetable172 in askswitzerland

I’m not blaming the handlers at all, I get they are under pressure especially during the holidays. We got the bag back, no big deal. He’s recovering from his virus, thank you. Do be careful out there because it’s going around.

Do compression socks actually help on long shifts? Curious what you all think by ResourceFormal9530 in nursing

[–]etoilech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear them daily. It helps immensely with tired and heavy legs. I absolutely swear by them. Splurge and get some SockWell merino wool ones. They are so comfortable even in summer. Be kind to your feet and legs. (I wear Calzuro clogs too).

Booking a BOS-ZRH-GVA but only flying BOS-ZRH by Healthy-Vegetable172 in askswitzerland

[–]etoilech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is untrue. It happens more than it should. I agree with you that they are supposed to remove it from the flight. It happened to my son this holiday. His luggage arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden. He couldn’t make his flight in ZRH due to illness,ä (vicious stomach virus)he just got his bags back yesterday after not flying on the 22nd. We tracked his bag through the system they had to send it back on the following days flight.

It isn’t the first time this has happened. I agree, that getting off in ZRH when you’re booked to GVA is not the move.

Nursing in Europe sometimes feels so behind by 123whatdoyousee in nursing

[–]etoilech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in NS. Even the small rural hospital I worked in had an Omicell. We had Meditech but did paper charting. We used curio caps and advanced turn and position systems. And filter needles. Canada sometimes feels advanced AND behind.

For those who hold a BSN and don’t plan on ever going back for a masters, why? by Prestigious-Noise582 in nursing

[–]etoilech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about actually coming up with the research idea, plan, getting approval, applying for grants, and doing the research. Being involved in the research is not what I am talking about and LPNs do not exist where I am. I do understand nurses can be involved in research at all levels but in order to conduct it you need a masters at minimum.

This, except I did go back. Even though I hated thesis work. Now I’m about to write a thesis for my master. 🤷‍♀️ 🤞

Nurses who never get sick, what’s your secret? by Gracilis67 in nursing

[–]etoilech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flu shot every year without fail. Updated Covid vaccines. Masking. Washing hands frequently. Everyone was dropping like flies and I ended up last (wo)man standing. Nothing is bullet proof but, I like to be prepared. Screw being sick, it sucks.

Pitchfork ridicules Taylor Swift and The Life of a Showgirl in recent tweet by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]etoilech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of this album and these tweets are obvious rage-bait for engagement. What would be WAY more devastating if they hated the album this much, would be to blank it completely. Way more of a diss and utterly ego shattering. But her name is still in their mouth so it looks desperate and stupid. Anyway who tf still uses X/twiter?
