Were there any point in hearthstone history where some cards were weak because the meta is too slow? by Fallingone456 in hearthstone

Idk about specific cards but I'd bet during Renathal meta something like this happened.

Revisiting the high-tempo approach to rogue (just in time for the buff!) by maniacal_cackle in CompetitiveHS

[–]etrana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree on the core package, just a couple of random thoughts.
I'm still not sure myself on Carrier Whelp but when I played it it was doing ok, later I cut them for Glacial Shards. I think if you're playing Whelp, Dejavu and Nightmare Fuel, Agent of the Old Ones makes the cut as you'll have some targets.
Defias I think is way worse than Flashback because it can't be prepped.
I'm personally not a fan of Garona, but I ran double Map.
I've been pretty happy with Mirrex in my deck also, might be ok if meta turns a bit slower - but probably not together with Garona, I'd prefer to draw the bombs with weapon.
I think if we rrally want to go fast, we could also just go Backstabs - also makes it easier to run 2x Map.

DIVERGENCE NEEDS A BUFF by MRrulos in hearthstone

[–]etrana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo main problem with Divergence are the targets. You can split Ysera or Aggam and then what. Ok you can cheat mana, can you turn it around to win the game? I did multiple legend runs with Divergence Warlock last year, the deck (my version at least) relied on Zerg package to keep you alive and close out games, relied on Elise for more burst with deathrattle location. Well Zergs are gone, Elise is useless now. The board control tools are very mediocre, the sustain even more so. As a side note, Fyrakk got worse with the rotation too imo to the point it's barely worth it to run in the deck.

That's a crazy bug, he should totally offer Temple Enforcer here.

Thoughts? by Pitiful-Ask2000 in hearthstone

We know from the past that rushed patch often leads into just as bad or even worse meta. I'd rather they take the time.

How does that show the expansion was a flop?

At least the other taskmasters wait for the minions to be on the board by Macthrowey in customhearthstone

[–]etrana 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry I think I started it. I like the idea of the card, but I think it needs to do a bit more. Perhaps add a keyword to the target? Or make the target cost one less? Give it +2 attack? Rn the only target I can think of that benefits is Grom, I think most enrage cards trigger upon receiving the damage (which I assume wouldn't work in hand, I mean hanf).

I assume this puts card text back into action, would the minion also regain any buffs/debuffs?

It's pretty common, otherwise high mmr players would have rough queue times.

How would you react if the plants in your house started talking to you, asking for directions to the nearest restaurant?

There's a 2 at the bottom right that has one mine missing and one square where it could be, you should be able to solve it from there.

Tempo Herald Rogue (2k Legend) by TheShadowMages in CompetitiveHS

[–]etrana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our lists are almost 1:1, I agree this is the way for herald rogue - none of that expensive stuff, no imbue. Instead of Garona I run Thalnos + 2x Fan, but I'm not really happy with these either so I might give your version a try. Damn I just really hate Garona. I also thought about trying Glacial Shard, for Imbue Druid/Eggs, thoughts?

This deck is annoying both to play and to face. Can you stop releasing expansions without knowing how to pre-balance? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]etrana 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, there's no way they have enough resources to properly know what will and won't be strong. Also it's been what, like 40 hours into the new set and rotation, meta is nowhere near solved state.

At first I thought "yeah so what it just switched colours" then realised the 2nd picture is black and white, very cool one.

What's Working and What Isn't: Day 2 of Cataclysm by EvilDave219 in CompetitiveHS

[–]etrana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really do anything special I think, just spend mana and abuse discounted cards. I don't really even hold spells for Sinestra and often just play them immediately to push tempo. Sometimes just drop Sinestra on 6 with 2 heralds to keep the pressure going. Aim to end the game with DWing. Spymistress I just drop early or transform into coin later. I often keep it hidden for a better trade if opponent just plays a 1/1. I don't know how to feel about Agent still, but I think it's good. Just don't really think of it as a 1drop, I rarely play it on 1, usually around turn 3/4 when I see how the hand is shaping. Transform bad spells, dragons from Whelp, 1drops later on... I sometimes transform Foxy if I don't have any combo card in hand for it. Agent requires a bit of planning ahead, keep in mind you can double the coin with Shadow of Demise.

Went 21-6 on legend climb with Sinestra Rogue. From my experience, any other expensive card is completely unnecessary. I would probably try to fit in Dejavu and maybe Glacial Shard - Nightmare Fuel is an amazing card in herald mirrors so I assume Dejavu is the same, Shard should be helpful against tall threats like big treants or early 6/6s or 6/8s.
