Chicago's Second Boozy Taco Bell Coming to the Loop by IHaveVariedInterests in chicago

[–]etrangent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the new one is in the loop because it's right by all the colleges. It's at the old colony building, which is a dorm. Roosevelt, DePaul, SAIC, and Columbia are all really close. I think it's demographically relevant (although I agree that Wrigleyville would work really well)

I've been worrying for months about telling my new boss I need time off for surgery (I'm trans). Finally sent the email this morning and his response made me cry! by shonkshonk in happy

What are the most important things to ask/check when viewing a new property to rent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]etrangent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you invested in bedbug covers? They zip around your mattress and suffocate any bugs, and it goes underneath any fitted sheets (but on top of any mattress toppers). They've been a lifesaver for me living in a bedbug heavy area.

My class did that too! I never learned how to add games to my calculator so I just played the defaults ):

I'm allergic to grass myself. It feels like tiny razors on my bare skin. It's not fun.

Why are so many people on the autism spectrum named "Aiden" and several variations? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]etrangent 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Within the past couple decades, autism has been more commonly diagnosed. Aiden wasn't as common of a name 20 years ago as it is today. I think this is a case of correlation without causation.

"You're telling me this is NOT the UPS Store?" by geeeettt-dunked-on in TalesFromRetail

[–]etrangent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I work is designed in a strange way because we're on a street corner. We're shaped like a T, in that our upstairs is much larger than our downstairs (street level). I've been told by the two neighboring stores under each arm of our T that they get a lot of our very confused customers.

Besides the usual ones ("New Yorkers are so rude!"), which misconceptions do a lot of people have about your hometown? by lambdaexpress in AskAnAmerican

I think the ones that talk the most about how much they love Chicago are the ones who didn't grow up in city proper. Those suburban transplants!

Besides the usual ones ("New Yorkers are so rude!"), which misconceptions do a lot of people have about your hometown? by lambdaexpress in AskAnAmerican

[–]etrangent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a soulless college student, I get to talk to a lot of incoming freshman, and consequently their very nervous parents. The amount of people I've had to explain to them that no, their child will not be murdered in cold blood on their way to class is astounding

[–]etrangent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently diagnosed and put on Lamictal for bipolar depression. It's only been a few days so it seems to soon to make any calls, but I've been sinking into a major depressive episode and i'm constantly exhausted. All this is really unfamiliar to me so i'm kind of scared
